Parking was already a problem, then new management took over and somehow miraculously turned a problem into something much worse. A nightmare would be an understatment. Something like 5 visitor parking spots in the entire community. That few visitor parking spots for hundreds of units, is a real disservice to the residents and a sprawling burden on the surrounding community. Unless you want to park in a distant (non Ivy owned, 5-10 min walk each way) parking lot the best way to visit residents is to have them come out into the parking lot for a quick parking lot visit. It feels like a shady deal going down rather than a warm visit with friends or family. Additionally, this started out as an over 50 'ish community, so many of the residents are elderly. Parking is such a burden on all of the residents. Reading some of the other comments they say that visitors should park in the residents spot!? Wait, if I'm coming to visit a resident, their vehicle(s) would obviously already be in their parking spot. Every time I think this through I tell myself, I certainly must be missing something because it's such a mess. So far no solutions and I remain baffled. Many wonderful aspects of this property, unfortunately, the management cutting corners (all of the corners) on parking almost dwarfs the many, many good qualities. Would be closer to 4 stars if it weren't for the parking nightmare they've created. I've written many reviews here, where I am a Google Local Guide level 8 with about 18 million views and on Tripadvisor, where I'm ranked in the top 3% for the state of Utah. I generally lean to giving higher stars, but I cannot justify anything higher than 1* in this situation, it's actually a shame and pains me to leave the 1*, yet honesty and transparency are essential. Coming home or visiting someone in this parking situation is like coming home to a house with no doors... And management says, oh just climb in the window. I'm certain management has the ability, skill, resources and wisdom to create a solution and balance out the benefits of this lovely community, unfortunately, it's yet to be seen in actual results.

Attentive staff. The physical facility is clean and well-kept. Activities are diverse and appropriate for 55 plus age group, but not well attended. The individual apartments are appropriate size for retired people, and they allow pets (with a deposit). The move-in was relatively painless and the staff was supportive. Security is moderate - having only some 24 HR cameras in public places, and the front doors and side entrances are locked in the evening and require key fob or individual code to open. Facilities such as the recreation room has an outstanding ping pong table, a good pool table, small library book selection, and puzzles with work tables for assembly and other arts & crafts. There is a lounge area that contains a card table that easily is set for organized poker, or other games. In both the rec room and lounge area there are huge big screen TVs for convenient viewing, and supplemental audio speakers to make listening easy. The rec room's large screen has all the pay channels for movie watching, and the DirecTV NFL package for football games. The gym/workout room is well stocked with exercise equipment for all age and capabilities. Finally, there is a small convenience store on premises that allows you to get a snack or needed food, but it can be expensive, and selection is limited. Some negatives here at the Ivy at Draper, is the dual billing services of the online balance sheet on the residential portal and the monthly Convergence audited statement information - these two billing services can get confusing. Also, there are charges for just about everything ( sometimes to the ridiculous and confusing). Parking for guests can be daunting, and there can be a charge. The maintenance crew is A+ with a convenient method for requesting things to be fixed through the internet. In sum, The Ivy at Draper is a good 55 + Senior living community that offers some activities for the residents, a clean physical plant, great facilities including great inside apartment amenities. And- along with all this, we have a top quality ping pong table.

It has been a week since I put in a request for a repair of my washing machine. In a span of 7 days: maintenance arrived and did a diagnosis. Since then silent. I left messages and notes to no avail. Friday I spoke via phone and did speak to someone but never calledback on the outcome. Today Saturday July 30 I went down and put in a complaint. They told me they will get back to me on Monday. We'll see......

Please avoid the Ivy at all costs! They aren't honest in their transactions, even if you tell them you'd like to negotiate a solution. They don't follow up or communicate. Severely disappointed in their business practices. It's in your best interest to find other living situations!

Questions & Answers

Are the apartments furnished?

No

correct my earlier post, your rent increase is >18% not >22%. Inflation is 8.5%, SS increase is est at <9%. So many of your residents are going to give all of their SS increase to inflation alone, then another 20% to you. Where is that $$ going?

john smyth | Sep 23, 2022
The Ivy at Draper | Sep 23, 2022

As previously stated our rent increases are 13% for all renewing residents. If you have been offered a renewal of your base rent for more than 13% please see our office so that we may correct the amount.

Can you please help me understand how, when your community is elderly focused and your residents are predominantly on fixed incomes, you can raise the rent on these apartments at Draper by >22%?

The Ivy at Draper | Sep 23, 2022

Hi John, due to inflation and higher operating costs we unfortunately have had to raise rents by 13%. If you have received a higher increase by error please feel free to make an appointment with the office so that we can look into your account further.

Are monthly rental charges available for past payments?
