I had been with Genpsych for about a year. I was seeing Dr. Adeoye, but then was assigned to Nurse Akinyemi without any notice or reason. Fine, whatever. Up to this point, I didn't have any *major* issues with the group beyond not ever having direct contact with my doctor (all communication except for the actual appointment is through their assistants) and general frustration (having to follow up on appointments/refills more than once). After my initial (and final) appointment with Akinyemi, she neglected to refill one of the prescriptions I have been taking the entire duration I had been with GenPsych. I guess she just forgot since there was no discussion about why she might not refill it. I get that mistakes happen and I should have noticed that my pharmacy didn't receive it (I guess?). But what followed was one of the most frustrating and difficult weeks I've dealt with in a long time. I've been taking this medication for more than 10 years and others who have also been suffering from depression/anxiety for a while probably know what SSRI withdrawal is like, especially after depending on it for so long. You can't function - you're nauseous, you're shaking, you're crying for no reason, your depression and anxiety are peaking. Genpsych ABSOLUTELY screwed me. I called multiple times a day for SEVEN days straight (weekdays, I didn't even bother on the weekend) and could not get this refill. I got in touch with Akinyemi's assistant, like, twice in that week - and all she could tell me was that the "refill request was pending." I left several voicemails for her, none of which she returned ever. I called every single number on GenPsych's website, including the default number - I was told by someone completely UNRELATED to my care that Akinyemi and her assistant were on PTO. This was never communicated to me by either of them. There's apparently no backup or emergency staff. I missed days of work because of my withdrawal symptoms. And what if my symptoms had been worse? It seems dangerous to suddenly stop taking medicine you take every day for DEPRESSION. In short: look elsewhere for help, literally anywhere else. I swear I have NEVER felt the need to leave a review about a medical service until this experience. If you have never seen a psychiatrist before, CERTAINLY look elsewhere. They are pill pushers and don't have the decency to foster any meaningful patient-doctor relationship. They'll ask you once a month "how you're feeling" and that's it. Which admittedly is pretty normal for a psychiatrist, but my last one at least asked about my week - if anything, out of politeness since I was paying him $150 per session. And if you have been seeing a psychiatrist for a while and know the deal, do NOT trust them with your routine. It's not worth the risk. Also in case the person who sometimes replies to these reviews with the "we strive for the highest standard of care, please email us" garbage. Hi - I did email you describing these exact problems, and basically pleaded for anyone in your group to contact me about my missing prescription because I had no idea what else to do and was desperate. I received no response (shocking). Interpret that as you will regarding your alleged 'standard of care.'

Genpsych thinks its okay to send an account to collections despite having contact and billing info for their clients. I’ve never paid a bill late and have no idea why you would do this. Genpsych approved the sending of a $4k bill from a collections agency for services from 2 years ago that I thought were long settled. They are all approved claims and its a matter for genpsych to sort with the insurance company when/how they get paid. Pretty crummy business practice for a company that’s supposed to care about mental well-being. I didn’t appreciate having to chase Genpsych for answers about this bill, and I really didn’t like having the whole collections thing be dismissed by your billing staff because “only third notices can damage your credit score.” You all should be ashamed of yourselves for being so tone deaf.

Gen psych is a WONDERFUL mental health service that provides the most amazing support through different mental health tracks. The Bridgewater location was such a great experience and place for me. I believe that if anyone is considering working on them self and having thoughts about therapy, try it out! Just starting is a great start on working on improving your overall being. I’ve learned to keep chasing my life goals while learning and figuring out different tools to manage and regular myself . Some of these tool include working on emotions and interpersonal relations, and mindfulness. These skills have made me a overall happier and healthier person! Thank you Gen psych for your services and providing such an amazing team.

I found several of the staff to be very open and caring, and each of them were open to any feedback given. I personally really got the most out of the group process sessions and looked forward to them every session.

I believe so, as the therapists there work towards helping the patients recover from anxiety, depression, aggression, and other situations that would relate to being violent. And trichotillomania could be relating to violence, but it really depends on the case and how the hospitals decide to treat it and where the social worker will send the patient.
