Helpful staff!! Ridiculous prices. It seems like most people who work at Joann's are genuine craft enthusiasts. It's fun to talk with them (if they're not super overworked at the time), and they have answers to my questions. Don't pay full price for anything. Don't even pay sale price unless it's at least 40% off, since that's about how overpriced they are. I choose Joann's if the item I need is at full price, so I can apply a coupon, and I get one item at a time so the coupon applies to my entire order. Paying eight dollars for three yards of 1" elastic would be hilarious! For notions, shop online at Wawak instead; even paying for shipping you'll come out ahead. For fabric, fabricwholesaledirect (bargains) and Mood (quality) are the places to go. You'll notice that if an item is sold both at Walmart and at Joann's, the same item at Walmart costs what the Joann's item would cost with a 40% off coupon. I don't shop at Walmart anymore, but I do use their prices to check other merchants. A 40% difference is ridiculous, so I won't pay it.
