I used to come here all the time as a kid. Things have changed, I don't remember there being so much trash. Someone left an entire shade structure at one of my favorite campsites. Broken glass. And the TP flowers! Come on ladies, it's not that hard to stick it in a Ziploc bag and empty it when you get home. We saw tons of birds, from ravens to white pelicans to herons and cormorants. A gopher snake, a bunch of jack rabbits. A family of quails. Some bull frogs. And--unfortunately--a dead juvenile rattler by the South gate entrance. Everyone should visit this place at least once. Just please pack out your trash.

Amazing scenery. Good hikes. A little bit of broken bottles and trash around the campsites, but that tends to be how dispersed camping goes sadly.
