Extremely cruel/abusive academy. They justify everything under the idea that it is a "controlled environment" but if you want to get an idea of the spirit behind it, all you have to do is look at the Illinois State Police thread on officer.com.

It sucks when you're there, but it's worth it in the end. I can definitely tell the difference in officers who have graduated from other academies. As far as complaints about the staff treating recruits and cadets poorly; it's a police academy, not a spa. If future officers can't take getting yelled at in a controlled environment, have fun out on the street. The instructors try to put you in uncomfortable situations, because that's what the rest of a cop's career is going to be....uncomfortable situations. If you can handle a little discipline and structure, you'll be fine. If you can't, I'd probably find a different career.

Top notch place to train.My experience s with the staff and cadets from the academy have been nothing but positive. I have been able to see kids I know become cadets and graduate. Great staff, the something Springfield can be proud of. Don't forget to click like if the review helps

I saw 3 working 57 last week wall to wall traffic..70 mph plus..one big cluster fxxx when lights came on..then..everyone wadding or trying to in left lane....smh

In the state of Illinois it is required that you're hired by Law Enforcement agency prior to attending any state certified police academy. Usually, you go where that agency sends you. Not everyone uses ISP though many prefer to
