Buggy as advertised but a beautiful easy walk and we saw an alligator almost as soon as we got out of the car. We did the yellow and blue trail.

Most of my days are spent in the Refuge. There are so many different areas and beautiful things to see and do. I see and read people complaining about bugs- I rarely ever have a problem with bugs ironically. In my opinion the best way to see and explore the vastness is by kayak. It is imperative to be quiet and frequent the area regularly to see new and different things. The flooding is beyond our control due to weather events and over-development thus complaining about flooded trails is misguided. Everyday I see different things that are amazing- some days you see very little animals or birds and others an amazing variety. The goal of the Refuge as a habitat for birds and an area to recreate is met perfectly. This isn't Yellowstone Park so do not come here with unrealistic expectations and you will not be disappointed.

Wasnt great for me, but it was 90+ degrees for several days straight before I fished.
I don't think it is.
Yes if u have a license
No.
No. Sorry too many variables over there. Not safe at night, because of wildlife.
Absolutely no fee, however you must keep your pets on a leash. also clean up please? Completly safe ( put note in car dash to let someone know you are there just in-case you get lost) Hint... pick a color trail, then just do a bit untill you are comfortable with it.
If you like a challenge try the bike trails. Much more demanding, and also there are much more better views of nature etc..
There are no facilities at Cox Ferry Lake Rec Area or Waccamaw NWR visitors center for rehab, please search web, for example: www.sciway.net for local resources and tips.
Yes I think
I had not seen any wildlife on the 544 side of the river. However recently I saw eagles and possibly a fox or wild animal close to it's size.
There isn't any areas in the vicinity of the office however, there are a good number of dirt roads in the areas surrounding the refuge that will be nice (off 701 near PeeDee River bridge).
