Very bad experience here. Rude and unorganized. They don't care

Please do not bring your kids here. Do yourself a huge favor and save yourself some time by finding a different pediatricians office. My Newborn was seen here and they expected me to have his heel cut 3 different times on account of their mistakes! The first time, they lost his test result, the second time, they didn't get enough blood, and I refused to take him the third time because 2 mistakes in a row was enough for me. ALSO, My little sister has had stomache pain and it took this office over 2 months to send in a simple refferal to the G.I specialist. I had to call this office multiple times to finally get the referral out. My only mistake was not switching her to a new pediatrician during that 2 months of going back and forth. There are plenty of other pediatricians to grow with. I'll be going with one of the others. I never write reviews for anything but being that this has to do with children, I have to. Side note: I know this is cosmetic but they should really fix the walls. Their wallpaper and paint is chipping and falling off the walls. Not only does it make the office look trashy but don't those contain lead?

I spoke very highly of Dr. Jana three years ago when I started taking my children to this practice. I’ve always thought she was a great pediatrician. However, after my last experience with this practice I immediately found a new pediatrician for my children. My son has been experiencing rare GI symptoms for almost a year. He had multiple exams done through one GI pediatrician in Raleigh, but all test came back normal. I decided to take him back to Johnston Pediatrics for a follow up on the issue to see if they could possibly provide answers. He saw Dr.Carpenter and she was clueless about his symptoms but referred me to Duke. The following Monday I immediately called Duke to check the status of the referral and was told it would be a month before my son could be seen. However, if the problem was urgent my son’s primary doctor would have to call the on call doctors line and speak to the on call GI doctor to request a sooner appointment. I thought this should be simple well it wasn’t!!! I called Johnston Pediatrics and provided them with the on call number and explained the protocol to get my son a sooner appointment. The secretary seemed hesitant but took a message and said she would call me back. She calls me back and says that Dr. Jana is recommending I take him to Duke emergency room and tell them the situation so I could get a sooner appointment with the specialist. I thought this was ridiculous. I asked the secretary if I could speak to Dr.Jana directly and she stated “she was with patients “.Of course she is but I’d like to speak to her later so could you take a message?? The secretary was hesitant like this was a obscured question. Doctors at this practice don’t call patients parents directly at the end of the day!!! I’ve asked before and can never speak to my child pediatrician unless I’m at the office during an appointment!! I’ve dealt with multiple doctors offices for myself and my children; and it has never been an issue speaking to the doctor directly at a feasible time. Anyways the receptionist calls me back and tells me the same thing!!! At this point I’m like what’s the problem?!?! My son has been missing school, I’ve gone to two specialist with no answers, I get a referral to Duke from my sons practice and they are refusing to do a simple task to help him see a specialist sooner. I told the secretary that a doctor is supposed to be an advocate for her patients needs!!! She seemed clueless and stated she would tell Dr.Jana my concerns and call me back for the third time!!!! Seriously!!! I waited for a return call for a day and they never called me back. At this point I was too done. I had to call Duke and explain my situation to a manager. Even the appointment scheduler couldn’t believe I was experiencing this. The appointment scheduler was able to give my son an appointment within a few days. I know this was long but I want to help other parents. If your child has health problems beyond their scope. You will receive no support to help get your child seen by a specialist. Don’t expect these doctors to be an advocate to your child’s needs either. You’re on your own pretty much!!! They are good for basic appointments but that’s pretty much it. I personally don’t want my children going to a practice that doesn’t go the extra mile when they have the authority to do so. Calling another doctor to make a simple request only takes a few mins. Also, although Dr. Carpenter made the referral. Dr. Jana is my sons primary doctor and she has seen my son for the same issue a few month ago. All she had to do was look at my sons medical records and advocate as a physician. Anyways I’m done and I’ve found a pediatrician with stellar reviews in Raleigh.

This is the best pediatrics around. Dr. Jane and Dr. Carpenter are very professional and take the time to explain and talk to the parents. Would recommend this facility to everyone who has children. My grandson has been going here since he was born. Great Doctors and staff .
