We visited the State Museum yesterday for my daughter's school field trip! The Staff was nothing but courteous, friendly and very knowledgeable. The exhibits were presented nicely and if you stick around long enough you might learn a thing or two about our states history!

It is a good place to learn history , what happen in that time frame in the state of Tennesse, I think you will love it, because each exhibit takes you thru time .
The subject came up 0n face book about memories of Nashville and the response to the old museum was overwhelming from people's childhood memories. Now the old museum was dark and poorly lit but was full of the most interesting things. Some of which stuck in the minds of kids who are now senior citizens. Don't deny any young man or woman the this opportunity.
Yes every day except Monday
Hi Novella, a limited number of wheelchairs are available to borrow at no cost. We have standard size wheelchairs and one large wheelchair with a 24 inch seat. Please see staff at the Information Desk to request a wheelchair. Borrowers will be asked to leave a form of ID during the period that the wheelchair is being used.
Depends on you. If you are a thorough observer, it may take you 4/5 hours. However, 1.5 to 2 hours will be enough if you are not.
Hi Cindy- I work in the Communications department at the Tennessee State Museum. I was able to get you answers from our historians. The Tennessee State Library & Archives has a copy of Allen Carden's Western Harmony in their rare book collection. The Museum does not own one. As far as the Museum's collection, we have a hymnal published by the Southern Methodist Publishing House in 1860. We also have some sheet music published by J.A. McClure in Nashville dating back to the 1860s. I hope you find this information helpful.
It's the history of Tennessee, starting with the beginning of the state through the present. Tour guides are available.
There is lots of space at the museum so you will be fine
10 am - 5 pm
Admission is free. The new Museum opens to the public on Oct. 4 at 1:30 p.m.
Mr. Neely- I searched our records at the Tennessee State Museum and could find no records on what you are searching for. You might try the Tennessee Library & Archives. The museum at this location closes on May 6. The new State Museum opens in October.
You should probably contact them at their website.
As of right now, the museum is free of charge for everyone. I believe that is excluding any special exhibits, but since they're in the process of getting ready to shut it down and move it they are bringing in any special exhibits right now. The museum itself is amazing and there's so much Tennessee memorabilia and firsthand Civil War artifacts it's absolutely worth a visit go see it now before they move it. There's no guarantee in the new building that it will continue to be free of charge or that all the exhibits will be moved. I believe they're closing down May 5th in the current location and then opening up a few months later in the new building up by the Farmers Market. If you have a chance go see it now it's absolutely worth it
i use parkwiz to find a place to park but mainly i park at the mta garage at 400 charlotte
It is moving soon, but it currently is three floors and can take a couple of hours to go through, even longer if you stop to read the exhibit info.
Free you can give donation
