After an auto accident injury & a caregiving related injury, the Active Care team has helped my mobility flourish in a way that 2+ years of physical therapy did not. Richard Wright & Andrew Fogg are progressive, intelligent, empowering & kind, the very qualities one wants in an advocate... They have helped me understand how my body can operate more optimally, which has in turn greatly increased my quality of life & I recommend them unreservedly to anyone in search of chiropractic care.

Are your Partnership providers familiar with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome? If so, how are adjustments made and are you able to manipulate joints other than the back?

Yes, we are familiar with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, although, as you well know, there are many variants. The first thing to know about our approach is that we see manipulation (aka adjustment) as just one tool in the tool box. Our first goal is to provide a top notch assessment so that you can decide what options are best for you. Because EDS is frequently characterized by joint HYPERmobility, manipulative therapy is sometimes contraindicated. Often we will provide joint mobilization, massage and soft tissue therapies, acupuncture and of course, targeted exercise for self treatment. The most important thing we can do is help you understand how to modify your life to deal with pain triggers and overcome pain’s effect on your daily activities. Best, Dr. Fogg We are happy to work with you and your primary care provider or specialist. If you do not already see a connective tissue specialist, we are able to refer you to the Marfan/Ehler-Danlos specialty clinic at UCSF.
