Hotel is dated. Friendly staff and close to the college, but could use some updating in the rooms. I am a diehard Marriott member, but would consider other properties before rebooking this one.

We decided last minute to stop on our way to Hilton Head for the night. What a quaint place, excellent price, clean, extremely pleasant helpful staff. Buddy went above and beyond when we checked in! We asked him about places for dinner and he pulls out a list of places!! He explains each place and makes suggestions. We listened to his him and chose Pawleys Front Porch and we were not disappointed. We came back after dinner thanked him and he told us if we needed anything to let him know. Buddy you are outstanding just what we love about Marriott!!! The only place we stay!

The best location available in Columbia if you wish to be near the railroad tracks and the main road. i was there with a team for a USC event as well as a couple other teams, we were lucky only had to wait 45 minutes for our rooms, one of the other teams didn't get there's until late that evening. One of the staff told me that it was hard to clean rooms without elevators working, evidently 2 days before both elevators were out of service so they did there best by using the stairs. It was fun getting to meet all the other guests as we waited a minimum of 5 minutes to catch the one elevator as the other one was still out of service, yet the front desk told several guests that it was working, maybe it was a invisible elevator. I was told that the hotel has a new owner which explains a lot because we have stayed here many times over the years and it has always been very ok...except for the constant noise from the street and the train horn at 3 and 5 am in the morning. If you are fortunate to get a room facing the pool then it's not too bad. Breakfast was ..well not good, runny eggs, pink bacon, and lots of fiber "ie. coffee grounds" in the coffee. This is by far and away the noisiest hotel in town, albeit it is the closest to a lot of areas on campus, so if you want, you won't have to walk far, but you won't get much sleep. Only hotel I have been in that actually has a white noise machine next to the bed. That should be a red flag right there, Here's your sign...Oh well we aren't going to use them anymore so water under the bridge. Just thought I'd let you know new owner is way worse than old owner. One positive was my room was nice and comfy, just wasn't able to use it for sleeping, but it was great for everything else.
