It was my first time doing dreads and it was recommended by a friend. Ms. Darlene did a really good job and the people are very nice. Before I did it, I explained the effects, style, and required preparations (for example, I can only wash my hair with dry shampoo in the next three weeks) in great detail, and I also learned a lot about the historical and cultural background behind dreads. After that, I will definitely continue to look for her to do the trimming. Chinese straight hair itself is much harder to do than curly hair. I have not been to other places, but if you want to do dreads, you are right to find her 👌 My friend recommended Ms. Darlene to me. This is my first time to do dread locks. I'm Chinese with straight hair, it's hard to lock but Ms. Darlene is really professional. She handled them well and the dreads look really nice. She is also a really nice person. She explained all details I need to know, what I should expect and to be prepared. I also learned the culture and history behind dreads. It was a great experience and great outcome to do the dreads with her . I will definitely recommend her to all my friends.

I’ve changed my review to 1 star primarily because the owner, Darlene, lost her professionalism and became rude on several occasions. The few great experiences are overshadowed by the owners’s aggressiveness. I found her behavior bully-ish by texting me accusations that my kid of left a few candy wrappers on her floor. If it was him, then I take full responsibility; however, she was not at the salon the time I was there. Still, she came to the conclusion that she needed to text me on a Sunday evening, a day the salon isn’t open to complain and start an argument disrupting Sunday dinner with my family. On the second occasion, I couldn’t deal with her hostility or accusations anymore against my son. Still, the great reviews for the salon are accurate- the salon is spacious, beautiful, and clean. The stylists are great. The prices are so reasonable. Darlene responds quickly and can be professional. We are all growing and this may only be an area of improvement, my hope is that she grows, and considers the ways in which she is treating members of her own community. I am deeply upset by my interaction with Darlene, even her response to me sharing my experience below seems passive aggressive. However, she is still a member of my community, and I intend no disrespect- only accountability. All the best.

I got my crochet braids done by Ms. Darlene on the June 29th and I fell in love!! She did an amazing job on my hair and I was not dissatisfied. She’s did it under 3 hrs and was really gentle and caring for my hair. She made sure I was content, happy and she was patient through it all. We had a great conversation while I was there also and she’s the sweetest most caring person to get your hair done by.. It’s been almost a week and it still looks like it was done yesterday! I’ve gotten so many compliments on them and I highly recommend her services! The inside was beautiful and spacious as well. It was worth every penny! I will for sure be coming back in a few months.

I found Braids by Darlene by an internet search - I especially was looking for someone/someplace that braided a lot of men's/boy's hair since it was my teen son who wanted braids. I saw many photos of both men and women so that sealed my choice. Darlene communicated quickly and clearly with me and set up my son's appointment with Angela. Upon talking with my son and seeing a photo of what he wanted, Angela was able to do exactly what my son wanted. His experience in the shop also went well. I highly recommend Braids by Darlene!
