It was like no other museum I had ever been to... The setting was perfect and the story of each painting made it special. Mathew, the artist, answered our questions and gave us the story behind many of his works.

I visited The Icons Museum because I had to write a paper for my college art class, and I do not regret it. I have never been super interested in art, but there is something about Matthew’s work that sets him apart from most artists. He uses only house paint and his hands to create his work, which is extremely impressive. My guest and I were greeted at the door by Matthew, who was very friendly and polite. Unlike most museums I have visited, Matthew encouraged my guest and me to get close to his work, feel the different textures of the paintings, and take pictures. There were 80’s and 90’s themed rooms, which was a fun surprise. Each room was filled with memorabilia from that decade which was a nostalgic experience. I really enjoyed my visit, and I look forward to coming back and seeing what Matthew adds.

In visiting the Icon museum in Covington Louisiana I was confronted with an artist , Matthew Montero, whose paintings revel in the sheer joy of paying homage to the people and items that helped change the world. His ability to manipulate the canvas to create portraits of such interest lets the observer really understand why this art display is so important for all to see. The museum although small has so much to interest anyone and is beautifully maintained.

This was by far the best art tour I have encountered in my years. I booked an appointment (because you must to visit) and I was able to attend the same day. The experience was truly AWE-INSPIRING! The portraits of all the unforgettable iconic people felt so alive and strong with presence. The Retrorooms (which there are 2), are something you have to see to believe. Artist Matthew Montero has made a creative masterwork with ICONS. The museum and experience is just gorgeous and beyond recommending. Just visit!
