Why is it called “Tree of Life?” And how long has it been called that?

Steve Armbruster | Sep 30, 2021
Jon “Rorschakk” H | Sep 30, 2021

"Officially the Étienne de Boré Oak, named after the first mayor of New Orleans, and the man who was largely responsible for bringing sugar cane to the area as a primary money crop, it is likely that the arbor existed in the spot long before de Boré, but the land did eventually fall within the border of his sugarcane plantation. The tree was given its current, more accepted name, the “Tree of Life” by the locals." Based off the history of De Boré and his influence, it was likely dubbed Tree Of Life do to De Boré 'breathing-life' into New Orleans with his sugar cane cash crop. Seeing as how De Boré was appointed as first mayor of New Orleans in 1803 by the Governor of the Orleans Territory, William C. C. Claiborne, most likely has been known as the Tree Of Life for at least 200 hundred years.
