We paid the $10 to launch our own canoe. Staff inside was very friendly. The launch ramp was well maintained and we easily set out on a scenic paddle. What a beautiful paddle!! Saw a lot of hawks, aquatic birds, and even skydivers. $10 well spent!! Just a side note to the two young staff members at the launch site helping the rental customers: I shoved tip money in my pocket as my husband pulled our canoe off the ramp and carried it. We are so used to the guys helping us at the Nissequogue River (pulling the boat in/out; steadying it for me as I get in;- one even picked up our dog and put her in when she refused to get in) and we tip them for their service, so I anticipated these two men to offer their assistance. Neither of them offered to help my husband carry the heavy canoe from the lot to the launch; so you lost out on easy cash. I wasn't annoyed, just surprised neither of them hustled to fill that tip jar on their table.
