My husband and I were on vac. When he started not feeling to great. He told me to call 911 this was a 1st. The EMS team and 1st responder were superb. Once we got to the hosp. The staff was so friendly and efficient. Still am not sure what is going on w/ my husband, but I'm sure the dr.s here will be able to figure it out.

Update to my previous update...My brother is at Watauga Medical AGAIN. He had to undergo an emergency surgery to clean out a massive infection in his stomach. He spent weeks in another hospital that was far worse than Watauga Medical, they sent him home without resolving his problem. He went back to Wataugas ER for two days in a row and on the second day, they finally found that his stomach and digestive tract was infected. The surgeon admitted that they had all dropped the ball in his case. So far, the nurses--mainly Rachel in the ICU have been great. My brother is in septic shock and he is struggling to recover. If you or a loved one are sick and you come to this hospital for help-I pray you do not endure the negligence and lack of care that my dear brother has endured during his month long fight to get competent medical help. Update---The nurses and doctors here lack bedside manners. They let my family member become dehydrated after refusing to give him IV fluids or even ice chips for two days. When my brother was taken by ambulance to the ER at Watauga Medical this week; he wasn't brought in wearing a shirt or socks and apparently the paramedics also have no common sense (someone should have suggested that a shirt and socks-shoes be transported with him). The staff at the hospital didn't even offer the man a gown, socks or even a pillow!! When our sister arrived the next morning, he still was laying with no shirt or socks and because they didn't even have a sheet over the bed he was on, his back was stuck to the bed!! He laid in their ER for almost 36 hours and the nurses did not empty his urinal or offer him a blanket. What happened to common courtesy at this place??

Friendly staff all around. The gentleman informing people where to go when entering where construction is was very pleasant and helpful. I didn't get his name but he was very kind and that was truly appreciated. The nurse, Alison, who checked us in was so sweet and friendly. The entire staff was very cheerful and it made me happy to have the person I love the most so well taken care of.
