Overall a wonderful experience. We were a party of 3 and ate inside. It's definitely more of a bar vibe and I am pretty sure we were the oldest guests there, no surprise as it's close to the University and not much open on a Monday night. The food was really good, we had Poutine which was awesome! We ordered Mifflin burgers, 1 w/jalapenos and 1 w/o...the cream cheese totally mitigated the jalapeno heat, so all the flavor no pain! The house cheeseburger didn't disappoint either. My only criticisms are the noise level inside is deafening and made conversation difficult, if we could have eaten outside we would have but unfortunately the outdoor area is picnic style benches and we were dining with someone who was unable to negotiate that type of bench seating. The outdoor area is really nice though with plenty of seats and umbrellas. The other thing is the burgers were super thick, this is just a texture thing for me because they were very tasty and frankly we all ordered well done and all 3 burgers were spot on well done without being hockey pucks which attests to the quality of their chefs. Highly recommend The Cooper's Tavern to anyone wanting delicious and fairly priced food in Madison!

Had an enjoyable Father's Day dinner at Cooper's Tavern. The weather was perfecto for outside dining. Service was very attentive. The beer selection spot on. Cheers 🍻

The person who was seating us was very pushy with wearing a mask. My wife and I were in the process of getting them on and he was demanding we put them on before we even talked to him. I’m really trying to be considerate but service was insanely slow. Our server visited our table 3 times. Order drinks and food, deliver food and bring the check after I had to go ask for the check. Food was very oily and salty. Not a great experience.

All was excellent! From service, beginning with our excellent server, Claire, to decor. While individual tested vary, it's undeniable that the owner and chef are aiming for an elevated standard! The dishes were high-quality versions of classic pub fare: Reuben sandwich with house brined sauerkraut, turkey club with thick slices of on-site roasted turkey, and fish and chips made with generous pieces of beer battered cod and the best fries I've had lately: thin, crispy, crunchy, matchstick style. We had the pretzel and the cheese curds for starters, and both were good, the pretzel more so, with a little bit unusual breading (not batter) on the curds. Shout-out to Claire, who was super helpful with recommendations, and happened to be from our neighboring town in another state, so it was a treat to talk with her!
