What would you suggest for a winter/fall container plant that is colorful? Also, what would you suggest after my mums have died out??

L Barr | Sep 29, 2021
Forest Lake Greenhouses | Sep 29, 2021

Yes as Jeanette has mentioned you can plant you mums in the ground after the blooms are spent. You will want to prune the flowers off before planting. You can add some mulch around the mum to keep it a bit warmer. Water it in good with fresh water and then fertilize in the spring. Try to plant in a space that gets at least 6 hours of sun. The mum will go dormant during the winter. The mum will survive depending on its environment and how cold of a winter we have. Most of the ones we grow are hardy! Bring a picture of your container or your container in if its portable and we will help you choose some great color for it. We have lots of beautiful pansies/violas, snapdragons, cabbage & kale, and other accent plants. Come out and see us!
