We have been a part of many soccer leagues, even other AYSO leagues that were great learning environments. This one is not worth the time or money! They never start games on time, VERY unorganized, more frustrating than it should be!!! Last year they didn’t have enough girls interested so they did coed. Not a good experience. This year they combined 8-12 year old girls to have enough for girls only teams. It was a joke! Practices were all the girls doing drill work. No game situation ever practiced. Some of the games we didn’t even have a coach! So glad when the season ended!!!

AYSO is comprised of six philosophies which were one of the reasons this league was appealing. However, they are not followed. The three I will point out include Everyone plays, Good Sportsmanship, and Positive Coaching. My family have lived in three different states and have experience in recreational and competitive level soccer. This league has been the worse experience by far. The Everyone Plays philosophy means every player should have at least 50% playing time. At a recreational level game this is a fair rule. However, it is loosely interpreted. I have been appalled at the behavior amongst the players, coaches, and parents. I need to bring my preschool aged child to the games to be able to watch my oldest play and the poor behavior was not something I would ever want him to display. I felt at every game I had to explain what good sportsmanship meant and how the behavior being shown was not appropriate. After the regular season we had mostly made up our minds that our oldest would not be returning but this end of season tournament was the final kicker. The coach on the other team was only concerned about winning and made a complete fool of himself before the last quarter of the game. We played this particular team twice over the weekend. In both games one of their players received a yellow card. My son left that game in tears. He felt defeated, mad, confused, and treated unfairly. All of these feelings were warranted and as a parent they are feelings that should have never happened in this level of soccer. This league has definitely missed the mark in keeping the game fun.

My son has played with AYSO for almost 10 years. This will be his last season as he ages out. He has had wonderful experiences through out the years. The system is all volunteer so as you'd expect, some have more experience than others, but I've never been let down by any coach. The administrative staff is always responsive. It is very reasonable as far as costs. I’d recommend AYSO to anyone!
