Everyone that works here is rude and disrespectful. The ghetto girl that answered the phone caught an attitude with my 70 year old mother and was speaking to her like she was a dumb child. I took over the call and asked to speak with her supervisor and a man took the call. I explained to him that my mother didn’t understand her bill and she needed someone to explain the charges to her and the previous person that helped was very rude and unprofessional to my mom. He didn’t apologize nor did he make the situation better. He was acting as if we were bothering him and did absolutely nothing to explain the charges. They are all terrible people and I wish my mother didn’t even have to deal with them. For all of you employed here, learn how to talk to people and have compassion ESPECIALLY to the elderly. Speak to them the way you would want someone to speak to your parent. And furthermore, learn basic acceptable customer service. I’ll be speaking with higher up’s to report this.

Sad and disappointing. Office has embraced technology which I am generally in favor of but has failed when it comes to human interaction and customer (tax payer) service. Hopefully with training this can improve!

In registering for permanent residency with the Beaufort County SC Treasurers Office, I was was rewarded exemplary service and assistance. I especially want to than Lisa Graham who handled my application for the Homestead Exemption. Superior service all around. I would give her 10 stars if I could!

Hi Ms Janet, The South Carolina DMV charges a registration renewal every other year. For the customers’ convenience, that fee is included on the property tax bill so, once paid to our Office, we notify DMV and they send your motor vehicle decals. Below is a link to a summary of DMV’s fees for your reference. Please let us know if we can assist you with anything else. http://scdmvonline.com/Fees

While real estate taxes are often pro-rated between a buyer and seller at closing, the Treasurer’s Office disseminates one tax notice to the primary owner of record at the time the property tax bills are created. You should contact your closing attorney to see how you should handle the notice for the year in which the property was purchased but we would advise paying the outstanding taxes to avoid late payment penalties.
