DMV waiting times are typical, anywhere you go, but the difference is in customer service; of course, I haven't tried all of them, to say Roanoke VA DMV is the best, but it might as well be! dealing with them for decades, it's always been the friendliest service; thank you, DMV!
James Kasey
Expect to spend at least an hour. Even when it's not busy, they're still slow (various reasons)
King Coop
The people there were nice and helpful, was a bit nervous about testing for my driver's permit but they reassured me. I definitely recommend going there and being patient.

In the state of Mississippi, going to the dmv, is like having a tooth pulled. But Mrs Sandy Harris at window 15 was amazing. I just went to register my scooter and get a tag, and it was a delightful visit, I didn't mind handing over $121.
Thanks! Your review is awaiting moderation.
Did you ever figure it out cause it just gives me a busy signal
Phone # for dmv of Roanoke
It is!!! The number they provide is the Richmond DMV, aka main one. Wrong area code though!

Yes, it's mandatory to have an appointment, otherwise you can't get in https://www.dmv.virginia.gov/onlineservices/appointments.aspx Go to this website if you are in VA, schedule your appointments and prepare your documents well before going, everything is on the website. Good luck..
Took 4 weeks for nephew
Yes. Call back.
You will need your current Drivers License and provide a medical DOT card from your physician if it is not provided by your employer. The learners would be $3.
Lillie, You can call and ask them.
You need an appointment
October 20, 2020 is the day it becomes effective. Should have until then.
Yes as long as it hasn't expired you don't need any extra documentation
https://www.dmv.virginia.gov/drivers/#eligibility.asp
I am not 100% positive but I believe I know you need both names to sign off on the title. DMV does not monitor this site it is only Google users, so best call DMV and ask for sure
www.dmvnow.com. Go to the heading titled “Driver/ID Services” and then click on “Obtaining aVirginia Vital Record”.
Yes, bring the title and you'll need an application with all owners signatures. Other documents may be needed depending on if you have a lien or owned it less than a year.
If the court requested DMV to suspend your license for an unpaid fine you will need to visit your local office, show a court receipt for proof the fine has been paid and then pay the $145 reinstatement fee to DMV.
Birth certificate or Passport, your SSC, paycheck stub, or tax return for proof of social, and two forms of residency - 1st must be an official proof such as a bank statement or utility bill, 2nd can be almost anything with your name and address listed.
You will need a Birth Certificate or Passport, your WV ID, proof of your SS# (such as your SSC, tax return, or paycheck stub), and two forms of residency- 1st must be official (such as a bank statement or utility bill), 2nd can be almost anything else with your name and address listed.
Yes, though if you would like proof of the new address you will need to order a new license.
Va sales and use tax is currently 4.15% You can calculate the tax by multiplying the sales price plus any processing fee by .0415 Keep in mind there is a $10 title fee plus registration. Minimum sales tax is $75
Free if you go through a trucking school. I'd recommend Millis Transfer Inc.
They also try calling you if they have a current number on file. As long as you provide the active policy number they will update your file. I had double overlapping active insurance and went through a similar ordeal.
You can walk in or make an appointment. I just left there. Appointments get priority but I was in and out in 20 min
Go into DMV and ask them to give you one
Almost all services are walk-ins or they can do it online.
I understand that is mobile unit which has not operated since Covid.
Yes
Appointments on Mon and Fri; Walk ins Tue-Thru.
You can always double check the paperwork that you got from the dealership and or DMV
Call Brambleton School Driving, they might be able to help!
Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday
Yes, go online and look under locations DMV CONNECT. It will show you the current mobile ones in the state, select the near to you and schedule an appointment.
Go to the DMV and obtain your Driver Permit, you will have to pass a knowledge test in a computer. If you pass, you will received a Driver's learner's and after 60 days you will be eligible for a Road test. October is almost here, there is not enough time to meet the requirement. Option B after passing the knowledge test and get the permit is to enroll in a driven school...$$$, they will instruct you for several sessions and if passed successfully, you might get it sooner. Good luck!
Yes, but starting on October 5th they will have walked ins on selected days of the week (Tuesday and Thursday)
Not sure about that. Since the change from the covid. When you call there was no answer.
The customer number is your account number
Stop in any Virginia DMV customer service office or mobile office and fill out the Vehicle Registration form (Form VSA-14). Check the box that says, “Decals” to receive replacement decals only. Using your current registration information, you will be issued a new decal. You can also slice the stickers once you apply them so that if someone pulls them it won't come off in one piece, but most of them come pre-sliced to prevent theft
Yes. They are booked about 3 months out but if you check back several times a day you will eventually find an appointment within a few days. You might also want to check other locations. It's a pain, but that's what you have to do now.
I just did this last week. No app needed. Just go inside to the desk at the door and they'll have you fill out a form. That's all.
If this is a new residence then yes you do...
Yes
Most likely. Go to dmv.now for information
Dear Donnie, best thing is to call the DMV customer service, and they'll guide you, other wise go online set an appointment, go with all your required documents, you'll get all help there.. Good luck... :)
e
Bring all legal proof of who you are,. Birth certificate sscard. And a lot of patience
Sorry I don't know the answer to that question.
Bring your birth certificate, your current license or I D, your social security card, one utility bill or similar bill with your current name and address on it, legal copy of your marriage certificate if your name changed. Make appointment at DMV online (about 3 month waiting period)
You need to make an appointment online at the DMV website to see them. 3 month wait time. Bring all pertinent documentation. Try contacting them with the problem by phone or e-mail first to see if they have a ready solution for such circumstances. Try getting different new license plates, that will automatically come with new registration and stickers and you can do it online without waiting 3 months. Good luck, and God bless.
By appointment only
I think the best thing to do is call them and explain your situation. My experience is that they will try to fit you in.
Not necessarily but it is customary to do so so that they can reissue that number in the future.
To Cheryl Keppler ..I don't think so I recently when there to switch my title and license over and they needed to see mail with my name and address and I had it on my phone through my email but they made me go to staples to print it out. So there you go.
You don't need to. If you have a chauffeur (bus, limo, taxi, etc.) it includes class A.
You can still save the closest date. Meanwhile keep trying on the website every couple hours, there might be cancellations of appts and if so, you would cancel the first you had just to seize what you'd find before your driver's license expiration date.
Yes
You will need a social security card with your married name, your certified birth certificate, and a certified copy of your marriage license. I tried last week with a marriage certificate with minister's signature, but that was not enough.
No , You need appointment.
Once you set up an appointment you should get an email and they will also send you another reminder email before the appointment. You shouldn't have to check on anything, just show up at the date and time
Currently you still have to go online to schedule appointments to be seen at the Virginia DMVs that have opened. Go to the website at dmvNOW.com and select schedule appointment. Once you get to the "Schedule an Appointment" page you will have the option to choose a DMV Customer Service Center or a DMV Connect location. Note: available appointment dates are updated regularly.
You can go online and make one. https://www.dmv.virginia.gov/onlineservices/appointments.aspx#:~:text=VISIT%20A%20DMV%20CUSTOMER%20SERVICE,a%20specific%20date%20and%20time.
I'm almost certain you are required to do that in person. Check the website BUT also make sure you have EVERY single thing they ask for exactly because they send people away for any little thing and appointments are full until almost end of year in certain places. Hope it helps.
I'm not sure what the question is about adult learners permit
Bring 2 proof of address (utility bill, bank statements, etc.) Bring in social security card or birth certificate unless you have a government issued ID, a certified official driving record will help if you've been licensed in another state. Make sure you have proof of payment for any fines or fees you needed to pay to have your license reinstated. If for a dui charge or reckless driving charge make sure your completion of a vasap course has been sent to va dmv. Trust me have everything ready or they send you away with no problems and it will be another several weeks before you can get an appt to go back to dmv.
Visit www.dmvnow.com
U can go to www.dmvnow.com and get that info. But it is between $23 to $35. It used to have sample tests to try.
Good luck
I believe so
You have to go in person and its on the spot there is no appointments just take a number and wait to be called
8 Am
Go to DMVnow.com and look at the DMV to go schedule.
The original title and bill of sale is all you need. Many sites have simple free bill of sale printable downloads.
You can use your passport to obtain a real ID as proof of identity. If you opt not to renew your passport, it may be wise to use it now to obtain a real ID to avoid any future issues.
Vehicle / Driving records are $9 in person, $8 online. For certified copies, add an additional $5.

Yes, you can take it anytime during their normal business hours. That said, plan ahead. Be sure to get there at least 30 minutes or more ahead of closing time to ensure you are served.
Website says between 10-16 dollars.
Do u live in Virginia?
No. The downtown office can only process title and registrations, not ID's.
Or visit a DMV select if you have one near you. They save you the $5 as well. There is one located in downtown Roanoke in the municipal building.
Regular business hours 8am-12noon
Yes they do have testing on Saturday but they stop giving out tickets for testing 30 min before closing on Saturday they will not give any ticket out after 1130
Turn the tags in at a local office or call DMV.
If you mean you no longer own the vehicle, just turn your plates in ;-)
You can renew your ID online, by mail, or at one of their customer service centers . Check their website to see which one you are eligible for.
Yes you can. Any type of document such as birth or death certificate
No you will fail and have to wait 30days to retake the test

No. They are closed Sunday.
The dmv can now actually print out birth certificates if born in VA as far as forms needed to obtain an I'd go to DMVs website and look on there to my knowledge you have to have birth certificate and social security card to obtain a photo ID if you do not currently have a Virginia state issued ID.
Take current copy to your local branch and tell them you need to title it in VA from another state. Do know how much it would cost tho.
Sign it like you would if you were selling it the the family member has to pay to have it tagged and titled in there name
As long as you make it in the door before they lock it you will be served.
Under 50cc doesnt need tags
Hi, Eddie. Yes, you'll need the actual SS card that you get in the mail. A receipt from the SS office won't work, unfortunately.
Have a learners first ,and if you do ,and had it a few months then go in DMV ,and take the written test after that take the driving test .
You can go to your local DMV and tell them what happened and they should give you new ones I don't know how much it is if any coust
State ID, drivers license card and copy of marriage license if it's for marriage name change.
Do you have to make an appointment or can I just go up there and take the road test
Two proofs of id as well and ss card birth certificate and two peices of mail with current address and your name on them
It varies. Normal ID's are typically $16. See dmvnow.com for more accurate prices.
Proof of successful emissions test, if applicable Renewal notification or current registration Driver’s license Proof of auto insurance Payment of applicable fees For a passenger vehicle below 4,000 pounds, you will pay $40.75 to renew your registration. If your passenger vehicle is between 4,000 pounds and 6,500 pounds, you will pay $45.75 to renew. Pickup truck renewal fees range, based upon the vehicle’s weight (up to 10,000 pounds), from $40.75 to $51.75
DMV does not monitor this site it is best for you to go in person and ask for the lost and found as they do not answer the phones there either
It all was is they have to call Richmond and people calling in about things that can be found on there website
Surrender your old license to them, bring proof of address, and 2 forms of ID. Or military orders
You have to call the Richmond va office or go to one of the dmv sites there is one at the Nole Taler bldg church ave roanoke where you pay property tax or go online to find out where the DMV bus well be
You have to apply in person
Driver Reexamination Course. Call the DMV
Should be anytme now
Google "man pays DMV fines with wheelbarrow full of pennies". He did this because no phone number available. After that they now have a contact number (supposedly), good luck.
Most likely not it's a government holiday
A regular Drivers license is 32.00-37.00. Cdl license will be more.
There's no guarantee, but middle of the week and middle of the month are typically the least busy days.
The reinstatement fee can be paid online, however it does not include any other fines you may owe in order to reinstate your license.
The learner's is $35 upon passing, it includes the price of the license. You will need a Birth Certificate or Passport, SSC, and two forms of residency. One has to be official, the other can be anything. For 18 and under a parents ID would work.
You get a prorated amount for the time remaining on the plate. Must have 6+ months to be eligible for a refund. Usually the amount is around $16.
You might be able to reissue it online if eligibile at DMVNow.come. Otherwise visit your local office and it will be $20 and a new photo - no docs required.
Yes.
Yes, that is your proof of ownership and required to transfer ownership.
Surrender your tags to your local office before doing this.
Not sure what type of decisions you are referring to, but DMV policies are based upon Va law. You should contact your local representative.
No, restrictions dates are set by your court order and can only be changed by petitioning the court itself. They will fall of at midnight on your set date.
Your ID is all you will need. If you had a lien on this vehicle you may need a lien release from your bank or agent to show it has been paid off. Title fee is $10.
Visit your local DMV to request the former that must be mailed to your lien holder. They will have to sign off that it is okay to remove his name from the lien, and thus the title.
Previous owners information is not available to the public.
You have to take the written and driving test just as if you never had one. Get a study guide from the local DMV and Study it very hard. Be sure to remember traffic signs that are tricky and the distance rules for following ambulances and high beam laws. These are on the test. It is a multiple choice test done on computer. The driving test you will need to bring a vehicle of your own or someone you know. They will inspect the vehicle before the road test so make sure all blinkers lights and horn work or they will not let you drive. Good luck.
Go online to DMV website if you are registered and request a replacement license they will mail you one as they have your photo on file. Or go in the DMV and tell them you lost it and they will mail you one. Take a SS card and Birth certificate if you can incase they need it but they will usually eat your to pay a replacement fee and mail a new one to the address on your License.
You will need his Social Security Card eventually which you can get at the Department of Social Security. As far as a birth certificate, DMV can print out copies. Social Security Number Parents Name's listed on the Birth Certificate Date of Birth Those 3 criteria are needed to get a Birth Certificate anywhere. Only other option I could give you is make a trip to the hospital he was born in, they may have one on record.
I think you might need to learn to spell can't understand what this says. Unless it's supposed to read "How much will is cost to put tags on my vehicle?" To which case the answer ranges from $45-85.
Yes
2 Proofs of Identification (LISTED BELOW), Passport Birth Certificate Social Security Card Military ID AND ABOUT $45
2 proofs of identification drivers license Birth certificate Those are the easiest 2, you will also need your social security card, proof of residency (ie. Lease agreement, or 2 utility bills with listed address) and $55
