Scenario 1: The Village Timekeeper had my clock for over five months, multiple calls, and emails, with no response. When trying to pick it up out of frustration, was treated rudely, and argumentative. Trying to avoid an further escalation I cooled down and was told "I do not keep a clock longer than I have to"....figure give the proprietor another chance. Another three weeks goes by....contacted, and told he was unable to fix it...would take an additional two to three months, cost close to $785!!! ....or you can take it home....which I did. Scenario 2: Took it to a more reputable repair shop - Andrews Clocks in Hillsdale. Repairman had it for two days and figured out the problem!! Explained the issue and was in constant communication. The shop kept it an extra week to ensure it was working, andrunning properly. The cost was half the price !! If you want to take your clock to a place where it will reside in a haphazard shop in disarray, and where will have no communication whatsoever, until the rude owner is ready to reach out to you, then the Village Timekeeper is the place to go! Otherwise avoid The Village Timekeeper at all costs!!!!!

Omg this store is the best when it comes to delicate wall clocks from home and its owner (I think) who treated us super kind and the best thing is that our Howard miller repaired us and it was like new oh and another thing its price is adequate. I have no words to describe this site as number one. thank you very much

worst ever. Had my clock for 9 months and never repaired. I had to pick it up and take to another repair shop. Was told by emails all most done never touched. Never answers phone or returns calls. Then was mad at me for calling to check on repairs I have the emails for nine months and was told in 2 weeks should be done. Do not use this repair shop unless you want to wait over a year and then it is never repaired.

A couple years ago Paul restored my wife's antique mantle clock. He did a full mechanical restoration as well as cleaned up the case as best as possible, (extremely old and brittle finish, clock is from the late 1800's) Clock runs perfectly now and it's a centerpiece in our front room. Would use Paul again for clock repairs.

Questions & Answers

Do you buy used grandfather clocks? I purchased a Ridgeway grandfather clock Model #247 in 1986 - still have the receipt and manual from Hahnes Dept store. It is in excellent condition. Thank you Gerri Boland

Hi Gerri, Thanks for your inquiry however I only purchase unusual vintage and antique pieces. The best venue to sell a clock like yours is in an estate sale setting or you can also choose to donate it giving you a tax deduction. Thanks again. Good luck. Kind Regards, Paul G The Village Timekeeper

I have an Atmos clock that was given to my father back in the '60's. It is in disrepair. I am looking for someplace to have it restored. Do you do this kind of work or you know someone who does? Thanks for you help, Carole

Hi Carole, Yes. I do repair and restoration work on all types of clocks including Atmos. If you bring the piece into my shop I would be happy to give you a free estimate. Please be sure to lock the pendulum before moving or transporting the piece. Typically there is a sliding lever on the front lower portion of the case that you slide to one side to lock it. Also, Bergen County, where I’m located is mandating that all nonessential businesses must close beginning this evening until further notice. Although I will still be working as usual my shop will be closed temporarily to the general public. Thanks for your inquiry. Stay safe. Do you sell Black Forest coo coo clocks?

Dr. Joe Luciani | Sep 30, 2019
Paul G (The Village Timekeeper) | Sep 30, 2019

Hi Dr. Luciani, Yes. I am Authorized Sales & Service for Black Forest Cuckoos. I have several types on display in my shop including 1 Day, 1 Day Musical, 8 Day and 8 Day Musical. My shop hours are typically Tues, Wed. and Thurs. 10am to 6pm Fri. and Sat. 10am to 5pm Sun and Mon. Closed Note, today I was only in the shop until 4pm due to a house call. Note: I do list some of the pieces on my website www.thevillagetimekeeper.com however I do not list prices because I sell under what the manufacturers allow me to advertise at. That said you can either hit the email link to get the price or you can call me in the shop with the model and I can give you the price over the phone. Also, all Black Forest Cuckoos come with a 2 Year Warranty however since I am an Authorized Sales and Service Center I extend that an additional year. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any further questions. Thanks for your inquiry. Kind Regards, Paul G The Village Timekeeper
