One of the most professional and courteous departments I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with. I have had dealings with many Sheriff and Police Departments in Virginia for work, and Halifax County's deputies are truly top notch. Sheriff Clark should be proud of his department, because I know the residents of Halifax must be proud of them!

Tactics used to be reelected, despicable! Removing the opponents campaign signs, not once, but several times, despicable! Retired on duty in my book. Elect John Tanner and SEE CHANGE!

The jail is separate from the Sheriff's Office. You can contact the Blue Ridge Regional Jail at 434-476-5500 and they should be able to help you. You may have to wait until Monday for the office staff to get in. Hope this helps!
Hi, Frank! In Virginia, you can legally transport a firearm a couple of different ways (without a concealed handgun permit): The pistol can be loaded as long as it remains in clear view (for example, sitting on the front passenger seat of your vehicle). The pistol can be secured in a *locked* glove box. The glove box *must* be locked in order to keep you from getting charged for carrying a concealed handgun without a permit. The pistol can also be stored in the trunk of your vehicle. Long guns are not permitted to be transported loaded. Of course, if you get a concealed weapon permit, then you can transport your handgun while wearing it, in a bag/purse, or anything else considered "concealed". Hope this answers your question! Please feel free to contact us if you have any other questions. Safe travels!
