Love this place, lots of different trails to take, or can drive up the winding road that leads her for stunning views!

A great place for hiking, a great place to visit when you are in Connecticut. It’s beauty mesmerized me after a half hour hike. Would recommend to visit there in summer or fall time!

First time - I decided to drive an hour up here on a gorgeous day to see the view. Get up here and the road gate is locked at noon!! I parked and hung around the pond for an hour to see if it would open. No sign or explanation. Finally got in to the park, worth the trip back up there. Beautiful view - on a clear day you can see all the way down to Sleeping Giant in Hamden.

Every one can and should walk/drive to the top. Awesome 👌

Last i went, you can enter the tower. There is a spiral staircase inside.
They close every year around this time. You can always walk though. The weather has been nice enough.
Yes, there is definitely a lot of tree coverage.
It is small but the view is worth it. You cannot drive all the way up in the winter. The hike there is also nice.
Yes and it is beautiful just make sure you are out when the sun is out. It takes one about 6 minutes to get down the mountain to the parking lot.
I would look online or contact the local municipal for further information.
You can also hike. Entrance is on the left side of the park. Just follow the white marks. Take a picture of the map at the entrance if you're going to hike.
Already open
Yes
you used to be able to go up it but they closed the doors for some reason
May be yes, because it is too dangerous going up there if it s snowing, as hiking or driving, try on the Fall it will be terrifically beautiful....I guess
I believe the park opens at 8am
Next to the kids play area is a road (not open to the cars yet) you can go with the stroller and that road bring you to the top where the tower is .
Yes, leashed pets are permitted
Mirror lake is the center pond of the park. You can park anywhere for that. If you want to hike to the castle, you can park in the small lot directly to the left of the pond when you pull into the main driveway of the park. You can also use the gated trail to drive up to the castle but that's usually only open in the late spring/all summer and people walk up this way sometimes too.
I go this weekend i love it
There is a paved road that goes up to Castle Craig from Hubbard Park. That path is stroller friendly. The Hubbard Park trail up to Castle Craig is not stroller friendly. Hope this helps.
Yes you can, but only during the hours the gate is open. Usually sun up to about sun down, they have the hours posted right outside the gate before you drive up
It would depend on their reasons
Yes u can gate opens at 10 and closed at 445pm it's better to walk more healthy for u. Don't be lazy
You can go in the park but u will have to hike up the trail. It's easy only takes 50 minutes. Take water with u. I do this every morning and I'm 67 yrs old. An 80 yr old man went up last Sunday
Close for the winter
You can drive up as well not in winter months tho
They close the road to drive but you can walk the road or take one of many trails to get to the Castle
It usually takes me about 2-2.5 hours to hike from the parking lot next to the playground, up to the castle, and back down
Monday to friday closed 4:45pm
GPS placed it as a 3 mile walk. I did the last half mile with my kids pushing a stroller and it was about twenty minutes.
No, it's a Nature Preserve. No digging. Meant only for hiking the trails and driving the path up and down. Enjoy!
If you want to drive hate gets lock 4:30 PM walking it closes at dusk
The castle road may not open until May 1st. It's usually opened May, but I'm not sure of the date.
Yes dogs are allowed. I think there may be a sign saying you have to keep them on a leash.
