I was visiting the area and decided to take a ride thru some of my old stomping grounds. There were still grills, picnic tables and a pavilion on each side of the field. There is a bathroom available and plenty of walking space. For many years I would stop there for my lunch break when I worked in the area. The trees are still green in mid September but it's very well kept.

Wharton Brook got hit pretty hard by the tornado/microburst of 2018. It's still a great place to go for a picnic, cookout, or do some fishing. The trails were utterly devastated in the storm, but they are more interesting and accessible now. Luckily, a lot of the Pitch Pines were spared during the storm, and they're quite unique and worth a look. I love this little park and hope you will too (please help keep it clean!)

I called the state and they don't know when they're gonna reopen Wharton Brook state park yet.
It's a beautiful park, lots to do
Swim at your own risk, no gaurd on duty. I posted picture of swimming sign.
Yes, there are grills and receptacles to put your hot ashes in when you're done.
You can swim at your own risk. They discontinued the lifeguard staff several years ago. The beach isn't in great shape, but there's some left.
I don't know, have you reached out to CT DEEP for information on this issue?
Unleashed dogs are not permitted in CT DEEP parks. See website.
