Walked in hoping to replace my old 3 wood. Zach got me right in. Was a very comfortable fitting, relaxed, fun, with a lot of insight. Walked away knowing I got the club and shaft I needed and knew was working. I know I won't go anywhere else for my future fittings.

I was looking to get a driver shaft pured. When I called the local number I was transferred to a call center in Illinois. I was on hold for 10 minutes. When the call was finally answered the agent told me all I had to do was take the shaft to the retail store and they would pure the shaft as I waited. The cost was going to be $30 if I brought in a raw shaft and $55 if they had to take the head, grip, and grip tape off. He saw through his computer that their afternoon schedule was wide open with no appointments. So I striped the club down and drove a half an hour to the Kenwood store. First off the manager was in a fitting and his subordinate was unavailable. So their scheduling system is obviously not accurate. Then when the subordinate finally came to the front desk he explained that they didn't have a puring machine at their location. That the puring machine was " A $100,000 machine and that the company could never have a puring machine at each location." Okay now first off thought the puring machine is expensive it is not a $100,000 dollar machine but a $35,000 machine. But that's the retail price. Club Champion actually bought the SST Pure company within the past year...so they own the company dude! Club Champion could provide the machines to each location for far less than their retail price...it's just not part of their business model. Then this knucklehead explained that they would have to send the shaft to Illinois to get it pured, and that it would cost $70+ to get it done. And it would take at least three weeks to get the club back because, and I quote "We are the best fitters in the country for that matter in the world so you should feel privilege to do business with us. Waiting three weeks is just part of the process." Then he said "since it's the holiday season you might as well add 2 weeks to the process." Yes that's right I got even more attitude! Basically I should be privileged to wait 5 weeks to have them do a process that takes about 5 minutes to do. When I explained to him that the agent in Illinois had explained a different scenario he barked "What was his name?" I responded that I didn't think that was important at the time since the work was going to be done locally. He responded "that was a dumb mistake on your part. There's at least 500 different people who could have answered the phone and I doubt anyone would have said to just show up!" I responded "then why else would I be here?" So I was getting attitude and blame.I calmly turned around and walked out of the store. I looked online and saw other puring locations around the Columbus area, a 70 mile drive, and the next day was able to get my shaft pured in 5 minutes. I actually bought a set of new grips too. The cost for the grips, the gas for the trip, and the puring came in under 70 bucks. So the lessons here: Club champion is way overpriced, their business model doesn't include good customer service, that you'll have to wait for the privilege to work with them, and you'll probably get an attitude when you're there. I guess being the best is actually delivering far below par. Buyer beware!

Club Champion does not sell used clubs; we only offer the latest models available from over 60 golf brands. We work with 2nd Swing for trade-ins, and that process is handled online through our website; we do not take trade-ins in stores.

Is a Club Champion club fitting worth it?

Club Champion | Apr 2, 2022

If you are looking to improve your golf game, yes! A Club Champion club fitting is designed to help you meet your golf goals — whether it's more distance, better accuracy, fewer putts, etc. Our goal in every fitting is to find the best combination of components to help you lower your scores and play your best golf. If we are unable to find a combo that beats what you already have in the bag, we won't recommend any new purchases — the point is to play with the clubs that work the best for you. In particular, higher handicappers see the most improvement, though our fittings benefit every level of golfer.

What should I expect at a Club Champion club fitting?

Our club fittings are the most in-depth in the industry, with technology like TrackMan and SAM PuttLab at our disposal. You'll work with a Master Fitter to dial in your shaft and clubhead from over 50K hittable combinations -- this is done by setting a baseline with your gamer and using the club technology available today to find a combination that outperforms that baseline and meets your goals. Once we find the perfect fit for your unique swing using data like smash factor, carry, and more, we'll walk you through the recommended clubs, prices, and options available to order a hand-built set to match what you hit in our fitting bays. We do the same with putter fittings, using SAM PuttLab technology to find the best option for your short game.
