I love their mission. I love what they do. Homes For the Homeless have people that care about others.

As I Case Manager and a person in need, I learned that placing families yields more money than placing a single person. These organization exist only to make as much money as possible and they do so by studying and following NYC Department of Homeless Services guidelines. They don't assist people in need - they just know how to make money from their misfortunes.
I briefly worked at this organization and realized it's mission is not aimed towards erradicating homeless. This organization and other like it have to follow NYC Department of Homeless Services (DHS), that sets the conditions and guidelines for who should receive services and when. Organizations like Homes For the Homeless, compete with other like organizations in order to get their share of money from DHS. As I learned first hand, these organization sole purpsose is not to assist people in need, their sole purpose is to make money out of people's misfortunate situations. Think about this, if there weren't any poor people homelessness wouldn't exist and these organizations would have to market a different product other than people's misfortune.
As a Case Manager and person in need - I learned that the less money you have and the lower support system you have - increases the chances of getting a trickle of assistantance from these institution like organization. If you seek assistance from these places you need to have a plan on how to proceed because they have a plan to get the most money they can get from you by housing. I honestly felt bad when I worked in this trap. To them if you can pay some rent they won't help you because they won't be able to profit from people it.
