This place is a hidden gem for hiking. Really good trails and beautiful woods. Somewhat hard to find off of Hwy 78. 3 different pull off parking sites. Get a map from DNR website, via a print screen. Great place to understand the Black Hawk story. Told summer is very buggy so go Spring or Fall, or brave winter.

Nice place for a day ride. Easy trails are mostly grass and dirt so no shoes required. Very narrow, steep, winding road to large parking area. Livestock water available in 3 areas. Very LARGE covered arena.

Great trails for running, mostly in the woods with some prairie sections. Be prepared though, the bugs are wicked! The hills are moderate, unless you park at the bottom and run/hike to the top, which is about a full mile of climbing!

Good ambling with nice view at the top. Important area from historical standpoint. Interesting pavilion facilities. Parking not typically plowed, as a head's up. Note pretty extensive trails, check the maps.

We had ours there on leash. Did not see any signage that prohibited dogs. FYI it does seem to be also a popular hunting destination for squirrel and deer w/bow.
