Overall, this hotel worked out well. I wanted to stay somewhere near the southern terminus of the Blue Ridge Parkway. This Microtel is minutes away, so I was able to get an early start on my thru drive. The room was exactly what I needed: clean and simple. The only issue I noticed was the lighting. All the fixtures still use CFLs that emit a loud 60 cycle buzz when activated. Didn't have any trouble with any of the other appliances. The AC worked and the bed was comfortable. This hotel does have some issues, though. When I visited on a Sunday in July, they were clearly understaffed and overwhelmed. I arrived just after 3 pm, the nominal check-in time. However, my room wasn't ready until about 5 pm. There was also an awkward mix-up with my room assignment: I was initially placed in a room that someone else had already checked into. Clothes and baggage on one of the beds. Hmmm. The desk staff figured out what was wrong and moved me to an empty room. Just glad I didn't walk in on somebody. I attribute these problems to poor management and labor shortages. All the staff members I interacted with were kind and seemed to be doing their best with the resources available. A note on the pool: there is one, but it's small and has a maximum depth of 5 feet. It also could have used a clean when I was there. Not worth engaging with imo. Also, the WiFi was a joke. It was decent in the lobby but unusable in my room. Why is this still an issue in 2022?

Friendly staff and nice location. Rooms are small. Also pool opens at 10 and closes at 9. Sucks u can't swim all hours if ur an adult. If u can drown in daylight just as u can at night which makes it dumb u can't swim on ur own decision.

This staff showed minimum customer service. They put you on the first floor if you're traveling with a dog. I dk if they just think because we are dog parents that we are nasty so the room quality doesn't matter or what but the wall had carpet trim at the bottom that was absolutely disgusting. The outlets were super inconvenient and we had to plug our phones up across the room. The TV was located tilted on top of the wardrobe and I felt like it was going to fall. We travel often and noticed so many shortcuts on quality and service. The "Continental Breakfast" was beyond disappointing. No hot fresh food. Well, I take that back. They did have a small tray of those mini sausage biscuits in the packs. They tasted like those military food ration packs that you add water to. The juice was the best thing about it. My in-laws paid for the room so thankfully we didn't waste our own money. The toilet paper was so thin you could read a book through it. The "amenities" in the shower looked like they were made for Barbie dolls. Seemed to be way smaller than normal hotel toiletries. My fiance went to replace the toilet paper and the entire fixture came out from the wall and there was a foil odor coming from behind it. The beds were comfortable and the pillows were OK. I feel like the exterior is extremely misleading in comparison to the interior. I wouldn't pay more than $57 a night for this place. So glad we only stayed one night.....

We were there for 30 minutes and noticed a bug crawling on my daughter. We sent a picture to a friend who’s husband is an exterminator and he confirmed it was a bed bug. We left the bug on the night stand and went down to tell them we wanted our money back because we were not staying and the desk clerk was of no help, she said that it was not a bed bug and since we booked through booking.com we would have to contact them. Booking.com had to call hotel to verify what we told them and they lied and said we were there 4 hrs. We checked in at 4:59 and checked into the other hotel at 6:00. My husband called to speak to the manager after we knew booking.com had just got off the phone with her and he was told she had left for the day and would not be back until Wednesday. I called right back from another phone number and asked to speak to the manager and she said she was the manager. This hotel has poor management who do not know how to tell the truth. She refused to give me the name and number of her boss. This place does not care for your safety, and have very poor costumer service. I would not recommend you stay here.
