UPDATE - AVOID this place at all cost. Management is irresponsible and slow to follow up. In my opinion nurse Nora is a liar and she abuses clients; she even provides false statement to LEOs. Nora is also very disrespectful of family who advocate for their family. The only thing this place cares about is getting paid and keeping full occupancy. Typical appear to be understaffed. Staff will congregate in wellness office and leave residents unattended for long periods of time. Several staff who work there have told me that there are problems and that a couple of the nurses on duty are very poor monored and unprofessional. The ED in my opinion is more concerned about her movement up in the organization and not the well being of residents. In my opinion the ED covers up the misconduct and abuse. Also, I have read other ratings and reviews where people are concerned about retaliation, and they should be. Initial Post: Placed wife with FTD at Poet's Walk (PW). The intake and move in process was not at all coordinated and no expectations were set. The move in was a DISASTER and all they cared about was to make sure the first month payment was taken care of . Communication was very poor initially and I literally learned about some of the schedule, routine and services as we were moving my spouse in. Also was not made aware that a nurse practitioner was going to be performing an evaluation of my spouse and that I would be greeting a bill. When I called to speak with a nurse, she apparently did not lake my position and hung up on me. The head nurse (now retired) was also more concerned about checking the box on the paper work then having an accurate and detailed care plan. Haven't had much interaction yet with the new nurse but she did call me one day to report a minor injury to my spouse. So that was good. Overall, communication throughout the facility has some problems and telling new families the full story, providing the full picture does not happen. The sales people are just that, sales people trying to ensure 100% fill rate regardless of care The care partners really do care about the resident's assigned to them but it is clear that there is a disconnect between the care staff and the management. Also, it is very apparent that they are understaffed constantly. Many time I visited residents were just siting in the front room watching TV with no care staff around. But when care partners are supported to do their job and when they have sufficient staff, they do a wonderful job making every resident feel valued. If it was not for the genuine love and care of the care partners, the rating would have been lower (note lowered after several experiences of spouse being neglected and injured)

My wife was at another community for almost 4 years and i moved her a month ago to Poets Walk snd it was the best move i coulf have made. She smiles and laughs all the time and eats well and is clean and healthy. I`m very happy with the move and know she is in excellent hands.

We have been part of the Poet’s Walk family for two months now and are very happy to have found it. My sister and I were quite concerned with how our mother would react to being moved from her home into a memory facility. She had a very set routine at home and had quiet days without much interaction with others. Well the move could not have gone any better! On the first day most staff members came by her room to introduce themselves and to welcome her. They even gave her welcoming gifts! A few staff were then assigned to her for the first week to provide her with some familiar faces regularly and to ensure she was adjusting well. After the first week I was given an update that β€œyour mother is not just adjusting well, she is thriving!” I saw for myself how true this was. So many activities and social events are offered at Poet’s Walk daily. At first my mother needed some encouragement to attend but after the first few days she began to seek activities out on her own. She now attends almost every activity and is rarely in her own room. Even between activities she often prefers just hanging out on Main Street with the other residents and socializing. My mom is happier now and more involved in life then she was at home. This has eased our concerns and makes us very happy to see her so happy. Thank you Poet’s Walk staff for the wonderful work that you do taking care of our mother and for the nurturing environment you provide!
