Well kept and a beautiful walking experience. If you walk to the boardwalk, bring bug spray, there are a ton of mosquitoes in the woods. The grounds are nice and clean and there are plenty of trashcans and parking spots. The bathrooms were also surprisingly clean!

Meh , I could have used a nature walk but instead I found the only dirt boat ramp on the lake and thought that was all there was too it. A couple was fishing near shore said there’s a few alligators out there in the water so they didn’t venture out very far. Next time I will have to find the park and walk the trails.

Lake Ashby has an area of 1,192 acres or 1.86 square miles. It is a shallow saucer-shaped lake with wide sandy beaches in a pine flatwoods region. The average depths in the central area during the period of stay were five to six feet. The water stage was moderately low.
Hurricane Irma flooded the area and blew down trees. All State and county parks are closed till repairs completed and final inspection.
There are some gators. However people kayak this lake all the time with no issues. I would go to lake Ashby boat ramp to launch.
