With little knowledge of landscaping I went in search of plants for a beach house on Fire Island. After going to Fantastic Gardens (very cool but not the right fit for my search), the clerk there recommended Sam’s. Although I had seen this online, I was put off by the lack of reviews, poor website, and the name. Do not judge a plant nursery by its title, for this place was hardly a bargain (not that I have a clue what plants usually cost). However, as soon as I arrived it was clear I was in the right spot. I was immediately given a printout of salt tolerant plants as well as guidances on where to find them. It’s a large property you can browse by driving or on foot. It would have been nice if someone was willing to walk around and help me locate the items on my list, but I eventually found exactly what I was looking for. Roseanne was the women who assisted me, and luckily for me she was not only knowledgeable about plants, but also ferry policy. She informed me they are not allowed on the passenger boat (no one seems to know why but the ferry service confirmed this), and that I would have to disguise them. She then continued to assist me both in providing packaging material and wrapping up the plants. I got the feeling this was not a typical request nor part of her job description, but nevertheless I smuggled these plants over and with any luck they’ll last for many years to come (and yes, I’ll be calling my lilac bush Rosanne for as long as she lives).

I called the store on 5/13 to ask if they had New Guinea impatiens.I specifically asked if they had flats of them. They young man on the phone said yes and quoted a price. I asked if I could mix and match colors and he responded yes. Traveled 30 min to get there to find out they only had them in pots . NO FLATS. I went into the office to complain and the young man was there. All he said was I made a mistake. I responded with how much it cost in gas and it's no wonder they have negative reviews. As I was leaving the young man came out of the office to wave me goodbye just to make me madder. I drove off and will NEVER GO THERE AGAIN. THEY ARE NOT VERY CUSTOMER FRIENDLY. DONT BOTHER CALLING TO SEE WHAT THEY CARRY. THEY WILL LYE TO YOU!!!

We just picked up 3 green giant arborvitae from Cheap Sam's over the weekend.
Cheap Sam's is a nursery with plants and bushes and shrubs for sale.
I haven't seen them there, but I wasn't looking for any. They have a large, well kept selection of all kinds of plants, flowers and trees.Your best bet would be to give them a call.
We have Garden Gypsum in both a 6lb and a 36lb bag. However, it is pelletized.
We will be open on Memorial day from 9am to 4pm.
It really depends on the shrub. What shrubs are you looking to prune?
Thanks for asking! Unfortunately we do not sell pea gravel.
Yes we do sell air plants. We are currently closed for the winter but will re-open again this spring.
Yes we have several different beach grasses in stock.
No it is fine to plant lilacs now. They have already bloomed for the season but if you plant them now they can get established and will look great early next spring in your yard.
Right now we just have small palms in stock. The larger palms are expected in later this week or early next week.
Yes we do have Kwanzan cherry trees in stock in both a 10 and 20 gallon size.
We are currently sold out of this size but it is an item we do stock. Please check back with us in the Spring.
Yes we have delivery service available. Please see one of our cashiers for more information.
