Just nice. It's a cool little tourist spot. Nice place to stop on the way to Solomons Island etc

Lighthouse is open to Public a total of 9 hours during the week: split over 3 days. This should be a STATE PARK so everyone can enjoy it. Right now the "OWNERS" keep access fenced off hundreds-of-yards from the water so no one can enjoy the VIEW of the beautiful Chesapeake Bay. Not nice.

If visiting Lighthouses are your thing, take the time to check out Cove Point. Literally a few steps away from the water, Cove Point Lighthouse is a must stop!

Contact the calvert marine museaum. I believe they own and operate and can give you more info about rentals. :)

Can I get close enough to take pictures of the lighthouse during the month of December? Where I can have a complete view of the building? Thanks, Jose

Is fishing allowed?

Years ago the beach was open to the public and the Caretaker would come by and collect $2 from all . He and his many kids kept the beach clean on both sides of the lighthouse. Both sides were open but the north side was better beach and fishing. My Dad and I would carry rods, rod holders, tackle and food to a spot about 200' from the lighthouse then my job was to collect firewood and start a fire. As we would usually get there in the afternoon , and after I got enough firewood, I always had time to walk the beach and make it to Calvert Cliffs where there was always fossils, shark teeth, porpoise teeth and even whale teeth and bones. Although you cannot fossil hunt near the cliffs any longer , the beach was fair game and I ALWAYS got back to camp with a pocket full of sharks teeth. I had hundreds of them ! Some so tiny you could barely recognize them and a few as big as my fist. Some great shells and driftwood were plentiful as well. Now,only the homeowners have limited access.

Do you need to pay to park/enter the area?

No. The visitors center is only open on Sunday and Wednesday, but it was free to park and look around. You can't go up the stairs in the lighthouse even when they are open, but we rang the bell.

I was stationed there during the mid 1980s with two other coastguardsmen and there families. I lived in the small house on the grounds.Do you still find fosilized sharks teeth on the beach?

I walked on the beach not too long ago but I could not tell you, sorry. I saw all kind of shells though

Drove all the way there on Monday May 21st and the website says it's open and it is closed. it's very irresponsible.
