I had a terrible experience with this practice as a single dad where I was treated completely different than the children’s mother. Even though I have joint legal custody and equal parenting, I was told by the practice their policy is they do not recognize family court orders, they only need the consent of one parent to treat the kids. (Every single therapist we have seen since then has told us this is wrong.) Their practice policies required that I be setup as a patient just to meet with my kids’ therapist meanwhile I found out during our family court discovery that the therapist Shelley Geary was actively emailing, texting, speaking by phone, and meeting in person with the children’s mother, while she was ignoring my attempts to contact her. When I contacted owner Denise to inquire why my children’s therapist was not responding to me she said I was not in the “circle of care”. I was never given an intake, never signed consent forms, was never given a treatment plan, etc. The therapist coached my 12 yr old daughter at the time to refuse parenting time and not come to my house. She is turning 15 this month and we are still estranged. I filed a complaint with the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners (AZBBHE) and they found Shelley Geary in violation of multiple statutes including ethics, and suspended her license for the way she treated me and handled our situation, all under the direction of the owner Denise Stewart. During our Board hearing one of the member’s stated their was clear bias toward the mother. I am sharing my experience so other single dad’s in a similar high conflict situation with an ex wife are aware of how this practice treated me as the father compared to the kids’ mother.

double charged my card on my first visit and I had to bear the burden of proof to get it reversed. made appointment for psychiatry, right before expected appointment, they called to cancel it saying they didn't have a provider for that. psychologist was not a good fit for me, so I notified them that I'd be seeking care elsewhere. This practice did not meet my needs.

A year and some months ago I started therapy at The Wellness Tree. Shelley Geary has been my counselor. I started therapy due to a life situation that was hard to adapt to. Shelley was my guide to calm unpleasant emotions, think with clarity, reach a healthy emotional state, and taught me self-compassion. I have learned from my therapy sessions with Shelley a lot more than I imagined when I signed up for therapy with her. I recommend The Wellness Tree to anyone who asks me about my progress through my circumstances. My heart expands a deep sense of gratitude to everyone working at The Wellness Tree. Shelley Geary is the most thoughtful, kind, understanding, wise therapist I have ever met. THANK YOU.

I left this place in hundred times worse shape than I walked in, and that took less than an hour of my first visit. The information I sent in advance had not been reviewed and the therapist wouldn’t discuss what I wanted to discuss, casually blowing that off as not something she would address because she was there to treat me. She said I just needed to forget about that, move on, and wanted to talk about me. I didn’t get any explanation as to how she would treat me when the number one issue in my life, the one causing my sleeplessness, depression and anger hadn’t been dealt with, but just sloughed off as unimportant and trivial. I did however get three prescriptions, because apparently that’s getter than dealing with the thorn in my infected paw.
