After waiting 45 minutes to speak with someone a rep finally answers. I explained my situation, they try to assist me but unfortunately as always they gave the wrong information. So now I need to resubmit everything and wait another 4 to 6 weeks. perfect example of a government agency

Horrible was on hold for over an hour ok I can deal but the guy who answered was not informative at all. I told him that my mother needed to change her payee because her father just had a stroke and is in the hospital with a brain bleed. Was told we can do it online . But where looked everywhere can't find it. It just said to recall the office for info. That we need to a form to fill out. Still no help there. I even asked for an appointment he still insisted it can be done online. Ugh. We don't want to pay some lawyer to do this.

Very helpful. DCF forgot or mishandled my son's adoption papers. Adopted May 9, 2019, on February 10, 2020, I took my son to get his permit only to find out his new birth certificate and original social do not match. DCF, Jewish families, catholic charities all dropped the ball. We had to wait a year to get an appointment with the SSA to get my kid's social matched to his new last name and birth certificate...Thank you, SSA without your help and great customer service, I would still have a depressed son who only deserves a better life, not more hardship caused by inadequate administrative services. To wit, DCH, HHS you need new leadership..... straight up.

not answering the phone automated hang ups cause line is "busy". tried calling every other office but get hung up on as well. How can you be open but can't answer? We can't visit in person so what else????

I just reread my paperwork for my November 2019 bearing. Yes they will assist with the cost of your bus ticket or reimburse your mileage if your trip is over 75 miles one way. There was no mention of how you get reimbursed only how to get approved if you need an advance to cover these expenses. Best of luck.
Try their federal office in Wash. DC. We're under republican rule. I don't know how far you'll get. TRY. I was told in the SOUTHERN STATES they turn EVERYONE away their first try at SSI. Same as food stamps. I've been turned away by prejudicist SS bastards 3 times for looking to young. Told me to come back when I'm in a wheelchair, w/o looking at my medical records, in hand. I have INCURABLE Multiple Sclerosis. I'm sick, exhausted, lost 2 careers, and college from it. Can't have food stamps, n fed.College grants at same time, unless you have SSI, or job 20+ hour week. MS doesn't show on OUTSIDE of my body yet, except limping. Symptoms started at 27. I'm 37. Everyone that has it, is born with it. We don't get hit with symptoms until age 20-40. Rare cases symptoms hit teens/kids. If they can't SEE what's wrong, first glance, they'll turn you away a few times, tell you to get a lawyer. IT'S FEDERALLY ILLEGAL FOR THEM TO FORCE YOU TO, unless u have a problem when they WORK on your case.
There is plenty of parking close to building and handicap parking near entrance. Take a look at Google earth on the layout.
I believe this is just the place for the hearings. I started my paperwork online, about 2 years ago. You should get a disability attorney to help guide you through the process. It's a long and lengthy one.
No this is a hearing office.
Go to your closest Social Security Office. They SHOULD explain the process. BUT BEWARE, of applying in any of the SOUTHERN STATES. They will turn you away first couple tries, and tell you to get a lawyer. IT'S FEDERALLY ILLEGAL TO FORCE YOU TO GET A LAWYER JUST TO APPLY. IF THEY DO THAT CALL SSI OFFICE IN WASHINGTON DC, COMPLAIN. Duval offices are really stupid. Keep trying, or even try the office near St. Augustine, or another county in Florida. Google Flagler County location. I'm trying to get SSI too. I'm very sick, incurable Multiple Sclerosis. Bonneval Rd office said come back when I'm in my wheelchair, in a few years. Evil creeps. Lost 2 careers from the MS, illegal discrimination for being sick. They did it just days before my legal diagnosis date, while in hospital. Legal loophole. So I can't sue for it. I tried. I'm to sick to work but have rent to pay. Like I said, SS office here in JAX is EVIL, heartless, prejudiced, and racist. GOOD LUCK. We both need it.
This is for disability COURT hearings you want the general office and you have to initiate it in person
