I had an appointment time of 0700am made online and they had a line of 4 people outside waiting til after 705am. Upon entering, Cecil super nice friendly professional and quick to attend to all patients. Jessica at the registration desk however was the POLAR OPPOSITE didn't even greet me say good morning and had a very wet, congested, cough. If youre feeling crummy or dont like your job as she clearly showed, STAY HOME or live under a rock! make room for hardworking undividuals who actually take pride in their work. Her scrubs were wrinkled like she just rolled out of bed, I mean her entire presentation matched the attitude she gave. I had an apt time of 7am, and by 740am they were still registering me in the system. As I filled out the questionnaire on the iPad, Jessica proceeded to complain about working 6 days in a row, 2 girls new. But greeted every other patient that came in. Jessica being rude to people who are donating their TIME and blood without expecting anything in return is so disheartening. Someone from HR should really get her into some classes that offer customer service and kindness. Especially as a current health care provider, I find it embarrassing you have someone mispresenting such an amazing organization. I recently moved from out of state and have never had an experience like this in the YEARS I have been donating at new York blood center. I'm very disappointed, but not surprised, as almost 90% of the Google reviews on this location reflect Jessica's entire persona. Mark my phlebotomist was an absolute sweetheart and took the utmost care throughout the entire process taking over after I refused to have my vitals taken by a very unprofessional, and clearly agitated, person like Jessica. Mark and Cecil deserve all of my gratitude!

Find another place to donate. A supervisor showed up unmasked and unannounced in the middle of my screening and the phlebotomist left in the middle of the screening to socialize.

I have been here since 7:30 AM for 7:30 AM appointment and they are taking people with 8:00 and 8:30 appointments ahead of me. I have been ignored since I walked in.

Whole blood about an hour to an hour and a half from time you get there till you leave. Platelets you can count on at least 3 hours.

Can I donate after my first covid shot?

Cheryl Mitchell | Sep 28, 2021
OneBlood | Sep 28, 2021

Hello Cheryl. If you receive the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine there is no waiting period to donate blood or platelets after receiving these vaccines and you can donate blood now. However, if you receive the Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccine or a vaccine from any other manufacturer, you will need to wait two weeks before donating blood.

Do you pay for donations?

NO pay for donating. On certain days the gift you receive is a movie ticket. Lord knows going to the movies for an individual/family involves: the ticket, getting a drink, and popcorn/candy. If someone is brave enough and has time I suggest you go donate and Save a Life!
