For Texas personal auto policies, Progressive does not offer an AARP discount. They do have number of discounts, available, however including discounts for continuous prior insurance, homeownership, multi-policy, multi-multi-car, claim free and safe driving, and more. It pays to shop for insurance with a variety of carriers and evaluate the overall rates. Often times, even though a carrier does not offer a certain affinity discount for members of organizations such as AARP, they can still have lower rate, than carriers that do. Auto Liability Insurance provides coverage for bodily injury and property damage to others for which a covered person becomes legally responsible because of an auto accident. In Texas, you are required to carry auto liability insurance or approved equivalent evidence of financial responsibility if you operate a motor vehicle. Other coverages available on a Texas Personal Auto Policy include: Personal Injury Protection, Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist, Coverage for Damage to your Vehicle (Collision and Comprehensive), Rental Reimbursement, Towing/Roadside Assistance. If you finance a vehicle, your bank or finance company may require that you carry coverage for Damage to your Vehicle and list them as loss payee. Even if you are not financing a vehicle, you may wish to carry Collision and Comprehensive coverages depending on the age and value of your vehicle. Make sure you go over with your agent the various coverage parts that are included in any quote you obtain.
