I brought my dog to them for an x-ray to see how many puppies she had and how big they were because her last litter the puppies were too big and she required an emergency C-section.. the veterinarian assured me that this time would be different she said that these puppies are all normal size and my dog would have no problem birthing them naturally.. I suggested a C-section and she pretty much talked me out of it..low and behold a week later when the babies were ready to be delivered my dog was in distress and the puppies were not coming out no matter how much she pushed..the veterinarian assured me if this was going to happen that they would be there to do a C-section for my dog as long as it was not on a weekend.. well this was a Thursday morning and I called them and they told me that there is nothing they could do for me and I was on my own.. nearly $4,000 later I have three beautiful puppies but I had to go to an emergency veterinarian clinic in El Dorado hills which was very expensive.. it would have been a fraction of that price if angels camp veterinarian had just scheduled a C-section for me like I had asked.. I'm very disappointed with them and I will not be going there again.. I canceled my other dogs appointments..it's a sad thing because it's a very nice place and the people seem very nice as well but with this kind of let down so early in my dealings with them I just have to go to another veterinarian unfortunately

Questions & Answers

Do vets ever make house calls, to put dogs to sleep? I dont want to put my dog through the fear, and smell of death, at a facility

Having put a few of my dogs down over the years, the Angels Camp Veterinary doctors are very sensitive to what you both are having to do/go thru. They will let you and your fur baby stay with each other during the process. The doctors will stay to make sure that your friend isn't suffering and will keep you together until the end. Then they allow you to mourn your loss because they all are pet owners. Afterwards, they will ask if you want to take your buddy home, let them handle the remains or offer cremation. All of my past loved ones were cremated and I have them all. But as far as a "house call" goes, that would depend on the individual doctor. If you're looking to prepare for the near future, I would stop by and ask to talk to one of the doctors. The doctor would know if any of the other doctors would be willing to make a visit like that.

Office visit /examination was $50. Nail trim was $16.50. They are the best veterinary hospital in the area, from our experience.
