Written test is only for first time driver license, if it's only real id only you need social security card, proof of address, passport or immigration documents (originals)

I believe an ID at dmv will cost you 33 dollars if you have ebt or medical talk to your worker and get a voucher then it will only cost 9 dollars.

If you are not a California resident, you will not be able to obtain it with an expired license, if you are, the requirements are:
- identification
- social Security number
- direction
- exams (written, visual, and driving)

I was just there accompanying my brother with the same situation and the DMV clerk said that it was normal for it to be taking longer than usual because they are very behind at this moment. So, you might want to to give it a couple more days.

I'm not sure about that but I do know that if you take medical you can go to your medical worker and ask for a letter called a reduced fee identification card and with that you only pay $ 8.oo dollars
