After looking at many assisted living facilities in Kansas, this one was recommended to me. It was clean, my mom did not have to share a room with another person, and it was 5 minutes from my home. Being and only child, I was very worried in making these decisions. I finally have the peace of mind I was looking for - the Director of Nursing & her staff are top notch and go way beyond the extra mile. They are in contact with me giving me constant updates of her in the dining room and try to engage her. I am so very happy I moved her to Colonial Hills. The staff is just wonderful and I love that I can just pop in and say hello with in 5 minutes.

My sister and I met with the director, was shown the facility, discussed some of the activities, all the other things a visit includes and met some of the staff. And that was it. We knew we had found our mother's new home. The warm friendly staff and atmosphere has helped our mother blossom again. My sister and I truly feel relieved leaving our mother in the hands of the capable amazing staff a director who has helped us immensely. Thank you Colonial Oaks at Spring Hill, KS

I picked this facility because it was in a small town and has a small town feel. This is important to me because I know my mom is getting the love and attention she deserves. The staff is somewhat different , but they have an excellent staff now! The facility is very warm, clean and loving. I know my mother is being very well taken care of. I appreciate all that they do for us.

This place and staff is amazing- my wife's dad has been here 3 years and just passed last night. From day one, they have loved him - helped us through it all and been the sweetest group of professionals I've ever been around- God bless them and you would be lucky to have your love one reside here.

What are the main differences that you see between your assisted living and other nursing homes at Spring Hill?

Thomas Wilcox | May 1, 2022
Colonial Oaks Senior Living at Spring Hill | May 31, 2022

There are several key ways we differ from most nursing homes in our area. For starters, we offer a much more home-like environment, with private residences and a variety of amenities designed to make life more enjoyable. Also, we only accommodate enough residents to ensure that each one receives individualized care and attention. Finally, we have a unique continuing care program that allows residents to age in place, regardless of their changing care needs.

Is living in retirement communities more cost-effective than living in a house alone?

Brooke Love | May 1, 2022
Marny Mendenhall | May 1, 2022

It all depends. Is the house paid off? When you go into a retirement community your paying for the assistance they provide, meals, medication assistance, activities and socialization. The extra care is going to cost. In my experience, if someone needs the assistance, a facility is less expensive than bringing in caregivers. I hope this helps.
