Much nicer since they cleaned up and paved the trail. There’s a couple good views of rapids on the river, and a cool bridge about 1/2 a mile along the trail where the pavement ends.

Great place and trails around the Appomattox

Nice park on the Appomattox River. The roads through the park are pretty much dirt roads with a lot of potholes and dips. Muddy and messy in rainy weather. Lots of trash strewn about the waterfront. One area in the park we visited a couple of weeks ago looked like a dumping ground. One waterfront tree has been decorated with Christmas ornaments--bizarre! There was also at least one dining room table and chair set, albeit old and weather-beaten. Pretty, picturesque river. With a bit of clean up, maintenance, and improvements, this could be a very nice park!

It's a great place to fish if water is not too high.I mostly fish for bass. I've caught smallmouth and largemouth bass in different locations on the River.
