I went in with a simple personal out-of-state check, which is advertised right on their sign that they can cash. And after an extensive time of the worker asking me and the check holder to give them every bit of information about ourselves …

The western Union workers are the rudest the most incompetent people i have ever seen. They made me work 5 times more than i hade to because they would always give me half the information i needed. They are rude, condescending, and snarky. …
Can Do
I came into this republic cash to day to reload my prepaid gift card, they do not load Walmart cards. The place is clean the person who I spoke to was polite, well dressed and seemed to know what she was talking about. I like the service at republic cash I have no problem going back for other reasons.

The people that work here are so rude and condescending, and extremely unprofessional. I bank at a credit union & misplaced my debit card, it was taking 2 weeks to receive replacement card. My bf has been using Republicash for years, so he suggested I write him a check & he’d cash it for me - no problem, he didn’t even need his ID to cash it because “they know me there and never ID me”. Great, and the check was debated from my account in a day. So 2 days later I figured I should just be able to write myself a check and cash it instead of writing it out to him. I’d been trying to make it into my bank and couldn’t before they closed. So I went in, girl that helped me was really rude, skeptical, treated me like I was a criminal right from the start. I had to give them my ss#, show them my account balance, etc - whatever. She pulled up the check I’d written my bf, and said the hand-writing was different & questioned if I’d written the check - Yes, the hand-writing was the same, I wrote the check, I even quoted how much it was for...so she cashed it but was still soooo unfriendly. I then cashed a 2nd check and it was far less painful - I still explained my situation, and was never told that any “internal policies” around the amount I could cash a check for, nor a limit on how many checks I could cash to myself - I would have completely understand and been appreciative if they had given me the heads up. So then tonight, when I went in to cash a check, it was such a horrible experience. First, there were 3 workers at counters. One counter said “Express Lane Checks Cashed” and a woman was sittings the counter, so one would think that counter is open, right???? I mean, there was no sign to say CLOSED or Next Register - so I walked up to the counter and this woman looked up at me, didn’t say a word, and then looked back at some paperwork she was doing - nothing else while I just stood there. All she said to do was politely say, sorry I’m not actually open. Whatever, I waited in the next line. So I hand the Cashier, Mark, my check and again get ready for the process that I’ve already been doing - he then stops & colds just says “I’m not cashing this, nope wont cash this” - no explanation, no “I’m sorry, I actually can’t cash this because...”. He was just immediately rude. I had to ask, ok, WHY? To which he said I had an open check currently...I said, ok, fine, can I see the rules in writing so I know beforehand next time? Then the rude lady at the other counter huffed on over and said, so rudely, “Internal policy! You have a check that hasn’t cleared! It’s an Internal Policy so we don’t need anything in writing!” Interesting - is it also an Internal Policy not to ID everyone? Because my BF never gets ID’d...I would think at a financial institution, there are probably federal guidelines that fequire you to ID someone. So, my point is, if that is their policy, then ok! But maybe try and inform people of these policies before you’re just rude as all hell to them. And also, if you follow “Policies” maybe you should be verifying every single person’s identity that cashes checks! I have to show my ID every time I go for my credit union that I’ve had for 25 years. And lastly, DONT BE SO RUDE! It would have been so much easier to just be polite and explain the “internal policy”. And also, when I was leaving, Kathy, the rude manager, didn’t need to say “You have a nice day!” In an extremely rude, sarcastic, manner. I applaud this company for sticking to their policies - that is why I just feel obligated to pass on the info to credit agencies & Maine Gov & Business Liscensing that this financial institution does not check ID’s when cashing checks, but instead discriminates on who they apply their policies to. Thanks RepubliCash!

It’s written to you so only you can cash it
They have to be able to verify the check. It must not have been from a large institution otherwise they would have. Smaller banks are harder to verify and they run the risk of fraud which is the largest growing crime in the country. If it was out of state from TD Bank they probably cash it. Just a byproduct of criminals in the 21st century.
