Feb. 23 2022 and outdoors, nobody within 50 ft, and I still have to wear a mask? Hope these jokers get voted out of office.

Update: I've come to love this place. Walt, the attendant (at least on weekends) is a gem--he will get up in your business--but he genuinely wants to help and make sure the right stuff gets into the right spots! Just remember that they only take #1 & #2 plastics and he'll be your best friend. They couldn't have a more contentious employee. Clean & organized recycling center. However, I have driven by frequently on Saturday morning, and it has been closed (pre-Covid). That has been frustrating. It's also harder to enter & exit due to road construction--but hopefully that will be resolved soon. **It's very important to follow the rules, so that we don't loose this important service!**

Was just at the site. Walt, the attendant is great, but having to wear a mask when you are outside, 20 feet apart from other people is a joke. What kind of organization requires a mask on these conditions on November 2021? An organization that is clueless, could care less, and does what they. hope they get voted out but probably wont.

Sorry for the inconvenience JJ. We take our pandemic lead from the DEP and the CDC. I just want to remind you are not required to use our recycling drop off site and can contact a waste hauler to collect at the curb.
Go to the site and the police/security will sign you up. They will check that your recycling drop-offs are in compliance with their rules. Then you will be approved to dispose of your recycling.
The Waste Authority has contracts with the State of Pennsylvania for varoius services we provide for the public in which the state funds either in whole or part. The state requires any contractor to follow the mask requirements as set by the orders of the Governor. I hope this answers your question.
The site is operated by the Monroe County Municipal Waste Management Authority a separate legal entity.
This site is for residential recyclables only and accepts cardboard, #1 & #2 plastics, aluminum and bimetal cans and bottles, glass and mixed paper. In order to have access to the site you need to register with the Monroe County Municipal Waste Management Authority. The registration is free and this facility is funded by the revenue it receives from the sale of the recyclables. Go to TheWasteAuthority.com for more information.
The Swiftwater Recycling Center is open 7:30-3:30 Monday, Friday and Saturday. You must have a permit to gain access to the drop off center. To obtain a permit please visit www.thewasteauthority.com and register. There is currently no charge to register for a access permit.
