I started going shopping more at Ingles when Bilo closed down in our area. I didn’t know how much I loved Ingles until I really started shopping here. I come here at least 4x a week. I could do all my grocery shopping in one day but I choose to come daily just to get out the house since I work from home. Well this particular day I bring my son along with me. My son was shot in the eye when he was 7, he is 11 now. Bright lights are sensitive to his eyes. This day he had on his shades inside the store. And also his hood in some cold spots. While walking I explained the importance of trying not to have to do this bc people may get suspicious of how he looks. He understood and took off his hood. Well we get to the checkout line and goes to leave out the door. My buggy completely locks up at the door. Like won’t move at all. I saw 2 workers and asked for help. They walked right pass me like they didn’t see or hear my concern. A few seconds later the manager comes with some type of scan device and unlocks my buggy while apologizing. All I could say was wow that was weird. I later got home and googled what could have caused it. They said they are anti thief lock carts. They can lock them if they feel someone is stealing. This moment was a total embarrassment. I’ve never stolen anything in my life. So I will never be coming back to this Ingles.

Good location. I like this store despite once being followed by an employee I had just approached and asked a question of. He knew my hands had been full but proceeded to embarrass me by insinuating the prosciutto in my pocket was about to be purloined.

Ingles has great options and very friendly employees. They have hot and ready meal options: a salad bar, deli sandwiches, southern/soul food, basic Asian/Chinese food, sushi in a box, and pizza. They have a Starbucks in most of their stores and in the bakery they have really good muffins, cookies, bread, etc. Ingles also accepts WIC for groceries and has a pharmacy and wide selection of general store items.

Ingles is great if you like paying a lot or having a limited selection. As expected their prices on meat are higher than everywhere else. I stopped in to get chicken livers. The little tubs of liver looked like they had fought a war. There was blood and juice all over the outside of the tubs. I ended up buying elsewhere.
