We took the kids and unfortunately didn't go down to the bottom of the canyon. But the scenery on the cliff side is invincible, and the mist-shrouded mountain stream is like a fairyland. It is highly recommended that you go hiking early to enjoy the wonderland on earth.

Arroyo Seco is my family's favorite outdoor spot near the bay area. Slot canyon hike+swim, cliff jumping, beautiful scenery. Only 1 downside: How sore I feel after doing the hike! 😂

Hard hike if your out of condition. However there are several trails and the views are fantastic!

Not for free, but you can hike in and camp in the gorge by the river but parking is $10 a day at the gorge parking lot.
The entrance opens at 8 but you have to go early to Aser queue because a lot of people arrive on Sundays and during the week there are few people
