Just a beautiful, peaceful place. Free admission, lessons from gardeners and plant sales on occasion. Native plant garden too!
La Tortuga
Small gardens not as many flowers as I expected but it was free. And with the breeze you could smell the flowers

There were so many flowers and there was a small pond with a lot of koi fish which were adorable. Overall a good little excursion if you're in the area.

I love the arboretum! I like to visit with friends and family! I also bring soil samples to the NC State Extension Office for work all the time. They are very helpful with chemical analysis. This place is an amazing community resource, and it's beautiful!

That is exactly what I did. Highly recommend it.
Sounds like the tree is done. I had this problem with a large white oak tree and discovered it was infested with carpenter ants. When the tree was finally cut down , it was infested and excreted a black substance. Good luck
Pretty simple Sean Jones...she was asking the arboretum if they could provide assistance in saving her mothers rose bush. I assume it is dying. Betty...I would get some iron (for plants) and some brand new fill dirt and re-pot the bush until it thrives again...replant in the ground (if it was there before) and maintain fertilizer and watering stages.
I've been volunteering at the arboretum for a couple of years and haven't seen any snakes.
No.
The gardens are open daily from 8am-5pm and were not impacted by Covid closings.. When visiting we do ask that if you are unable to remain socially distanced from others that you wear a mask. The administrative office is currently open weekdays from 10am-2pm and the gift shop and plant clinic are closed. However, we hope to have all offices and buildings back open to the public early in May, and will post any updates on our social media sites or website: https://arboretum.nhcgov.com
Masks are not required to be worn when in the gardens (though we do recommend them) but we do ask that you maintain a minimum of 6' from other guests. Enjoy your visit. The gardens are beautiful.
What area?coastal landscape

In 1950 he and his wife moved to Wilmington where Durwood became New Hanover County’s extension chairman (later county extension director), a position he held until his retirement in 1978.
I doubt it. This place has like "banker's hours".
