This was not an insurance claim and I guess I will take some of the blame for having to write this bad review as I should have asked for an estimate prior to having this particular PuroClean provide service. I had this EXACT same basement water situation almost exactly 5 years ago to the day. 5 years ago I used a different PuroClean out of Columbus (Rick Gutridge - Owner of that PuroClean). I wish I would have realized there are lots of PuroClean options! The exact same service in 5 years went from $2250 to $4486. I understand inflation and other factors that would cause the price to go up in 5 years, but the price doubled in 5 years?? They did an OK job with the water extraction, but did break some stained base moulding that I had to repair before I hired another company to re-install. The guys that came out were friendly and knowledgeable. I will NOT be using this PuroClean ever again! I would highly recommend getting an estimate from this company BEFORE having them start! Or, I would HIGHLY recommend calling the PuroClean owned by Rick Gutridge!

I had a pipe burst above my kitchen and ruin the ceiling drywall and insulation. I reached out to PuroClean for help because they had exclusively 5 star reviews on Google. I was very happy with the quick initial response and estimate they provided so I went with them over another company. However, my experience that followed was utterly terrible. The contractor's communication throughout the project was atrocious. They showed up later than the time window I was given nearly every day. On multiple occasions I stayed home from work because they either said that they would be there or didn't say that they wouldn't be there only to find out later that they were not coming, meaning I had wasted my time at home for nothing. There was never a day that they showed up between 9-10am and worked all day at my house. They only ever did about 4 hours of work in a single day. In the end, what was about 4-5 days worth of work ended up getting strung out over the course of 3 weeks as a result of their absences, which meant that our house was a wreck for 3 weeks because we had to move everything out of the kitchen in order for them to work. The entire time there seemed to be no urgency or consideration of my time and circumstances. In addition to the time issues, a large pile of trash bags full of debris was left on my front lawn for a full week when I was told that someone was going to pick them up within 24 hours. The only positive that I can give is that when it finally got finished it looked good. It was an absolute headache to get there though. I cannot recommend this company and I will absolutely look for another option if anything like this ever happens to me again.

Questions & Answers

How can you determine water damage in a house?

You can check the walls and ceilings for water stains, the floors for warping and buckling, and the pipes for corrosion, leaks, missing grout, and mold. Attics and basements may have damaged flooring, mildew or mold, dampness, and odors. Also, be sure to inspect the exterior of the home for cracked roof tiles, puddles, standing water, and whether the ground is sloping away from the house.

Can a leaking ceiling cause mold?

Yes. ANY moisture from any source inside of your home can cause mold. It is important to periodically check your home for leaks. If you notice moisture or water where it does not belong check it out right away.
