We carry Mapei Ultracolor Plus FA grout. Dries vary hard, drop effect technology, easier to clean, stain resistant, mold and mildew resistant and no sealer required. Better choice than your traditional sanded or unhanded grout.
Traditional or Transitional looks are the best styles for resale value. They give a timeless yet elegant touch to your home.
For outdoor settings, there are certain porcelain tiles, porcelain pavers, and stone pavers that can be used. However, the material must be frost resistant. Always check with the manufacturer if material is suitable for outdoor use.
Patterned tiles and Herringbones aren’t going anywhere anytime soon, but many of the latest collections have scaled back on high-contrast colors, focusing on warm, design-friendly neutral tones. Geometric shapes are becoming more and more popular for accent walls, kitchen backsplashes and many other focal areas in the home Neutral tones are starting to make a comeback even though grey and white are the more popular colors. Natural wood toned floor tiles are making a huge comeback.
Yes, marble and all natural stones should be sealed at least twice a year to help prevent staining, pitting and discoloration of the stone.
When cleaning your tiles stay away from bleach, ammonia and any highly acidic cleaners. The best way to clean tiles on walls is dish soap (dawn or Palmolive) with warm water and a squeegee. For floors – vacuum floor first and steam mop, again no bleach, no ammonia and no highly acidic cleaners.
So, in short, you can tile over tile as long as you're working on a sound surface, no loose tiles or grout. The surface of the existing tile should be free of mold and mildew, completely level (including grout), and without any warping or strangely-placed tiles that might otherwise interfere with a smooth new layer. We recommend to use a primer over existing tiles (p4 primer) and to use a high quality flexible thin set (x5 or x77).
Believe it or not for a small space, larger tiles will make the space appear bigger. Unfortunately it only appears bigger.
When figuring out how much tile you need for your job: you typically want to create an entire sketch of the area you will be working on, write down all the measurements of each space in your diagram: include pieces such as vanities, tubs, showers, toilets , doorways etc. This will help any tile or design expert to figure out the correct amount of material needed for your space and to have a box or 2 left over just in case you ever have a problem in the future and need to replace some tiles. To figure out the square foot you typically multiply your length by your width. Any area you will not need tile for you will deduct from total amount using the same method of multiply the length times your width.
Ceramic tiles, since they’re more delicate are great for interior wall applications. And with the vast amount of colors and design options available, they’re perfect for accent walls and kitchen back splashes. Porcelain tiles are typically more durable so they’re great to use on exterior walls, and most floor applications. (both indoors and outdoors!) Porcelain tiles are fired at higher temperatures for a longer time than ceramic, which makes them more durable and denser—practically completely water-resistant Ceramic tiles are more delicate, less dense and more porous. So not recommended for floor applications.
