It's fine as a basic park. It has a few playground options for kids. There are 3-4 shelters with those nasty grills installed in the 80s that nobody uses. There hasn't been any upkeep in a minute. Trashcans overflowing and grass hasn't been mowed in a while, roughly 6-8" high.

Brooks Park

A small park that provides sheltered picnic tables, a playground, and some space in the back (for walking the dog without distraction or to sit in peace). This park is close to a busy intersection which provides a bar and grill, a Mello mushroom, a coffee shop,an ice cream shop, and Dry Ground (the areas premier craft beer brewery and bar). Across the street is a Midtown Market on one side, a church on another,and a post office, bank, Hillard and Lyons, and Mindful Living (a wonderful place full of positive energy), and a tattoo parlor. This park is surrounded by opportunities to eat, drink, meditate, pray, caffeinate, smash ice cream, or just chill. Surrounded by ongoing activity, this park is a nice sanctuary from the energetic convergence by families, kids, walkers, dog walkers, local workers on lunch, and visitors. I have spent many mornings or afternoons sitting in tree shadows, watching squirrels frolic, to organize the contents of my mind. Likewise I have walked or sat with my Chiweenie as he did so as well.

It was nice not real crowded. This day there was free food and gospel music provided by a non-denominational Christian ministry. Was a nice little park to sit, eat lunch and listen to gospel music. It had picnic tables, swings and things for kids to play on.
