My original review was from 2017. The business was sold 2 years ago and I have no current information on the place. Mom died there last year so we have had no reason to revisit. — I had to put my mother in Casa Coloma. The entire ordeal has been really tough, but the Casa Coloma piece has been good. It looks like a sad old place because it IS old and family run, but the looks are really deceiving. It's clean, doesn't smell bad (kitchen smells GREAT) and the people who work there are really, truly nice, caring people. The majority of them have been there a long time, they have very little turnover compared to the corporate-owned nursing homes. Mom likes her caregivers, and the administrator has been extremely helpful with billing issues with Medi-Cal. I would give them 5 stars but they have terrible parking. And the place does really need a makeover, but neither of those negatives is a show stopper. I'll take caring people over shiny surfaces any day.

Place seems to be clean but when I went in there for the first time to visit my dad there is only one way in and out. Not many parking spots and it seems like the staff takes up 80% of it you are having to park next to the building in a loading zone only or a fire lane and then you have to back out to be able to turn around so you can go back out the same gate you came in. Also I was waiting at the reception desk for 15 minutes to find out what room my dad was in I was in finally I stopped a young man who works there and he helped me out the staff just kept walking by even though they can tell I was there to visit somebody

Wylette Baltrip is one of the greatest Chefs at this facility she makes sure everyone is fed and food is perfectly presented to my mom she goes out her way to accommodate residents and visit them in their room nursing needs a lot help they are just rude, I wish I could order food separately because my mother loves however over the last week it's been horrible don't know if the kitchens on vacation or whats going on but they really need to step it back up did I mention the nurses are rude

Casa Coloma Healthcare Center is a Skilled Nursing Facility. There are activities designed for all levels of function. The caregivers are certified nursing assistants, and there are RN's and LVN's on staff 24/7 as well. Room rates vary. I suggest coming in or calling to find out specific details as everyone's needs are different.

Can she bring family pictures and keepsakes with her?

Beth Camero | Sep 28, 2019

Yes, the residents can have bulletin boards and pictures in their rooms.

What can she bring with her as far as clothes and personal items?

Rhonda Wright | Sep 28, 2018
Beth Camero | Sep 28, 2019

Staff at Casa Coloma will be able to tag all clothing brought in for residents. The clothing will be washed and dried using high temperatures so bear that in mind. Clothing with elastic is better than buttons or zippers. Slip on shoes and slippers are good. Don't bring valuables. You can bring in hair brushes, makeup, whatever little things will make the resident feel more comfortable. We brought in a TV, but Mom can't remember how to work it. :(
