It depends on the denomination. Penny and nickel, typically face value, dime, quarter or half dollar, at least silver content.

1943 was the year that they made pennies out of steel so they could use the copper for the war effort. There were 400-500 million made. It's a conversation item Worth a few cents or more pending the grade
